Thanksgiving

- We helped Mama decorate their Christmas tree with all the treasured ornaments from travels, the White House, etc. But there didn't seem to be an angel for the top, so Amanda unearthed this angel from 1968 or so. She appears to be giving the peace sign, but Mama says that she used to hold a candle that has broken off. Amanda was delighted with the "hippie" angel and it gave the tree just the right amount of quirkiness.
- Loved seeing the family in Macon on Thanksgiving day. Uncle Orbin occupied himself with telling all the ladies how pretty they are and how they "look sweet."
- Mama and Daddy were giggling in the kitchen over the coffee pot breaking down when Mama said, "just like us, huh?"

Fun in shops

I haven't posted in a little while - a little down, I guess, over being unemployed. But a good job is coming - I feel certain.

- My favorite Thai restaurant had this sign posted on the door today. The internet says the King of Thailand's birthday is December 5. Maybe it's more convenient to close on Sunday than Wednesday.

- The Family Dollar store near my house has the most happy employee working the register. I stopped to buy one small item and listened in line as he rapsodized about everyones' purchases (even to the point of how soft the Charmin bathroom tissue was going to feel for the man buying it.) After I paid he said, "See you tomorrow!"

- Two little girls in Publix stood in front of the birthday cake case and excitedly burst into the Happy Birthday song.
