View from the portico, dressed up and no candy

- More from the weekend. View from the portico of the restaurant in which we held our "family" dinner on Saturday evening. When we left in the dark, we were greeted by fireworks over Stone Mountain, reflected in the lake.

- There must have been some sort of dance that evening, because carloads of high school kids came into the restaurant, all dressed up. The girls looked about 30 years old with their off-the-shoulder dresses and the boys looked unaccustomed in their suits and tuxes.

- Bringing leftover snack sized Twizzlers packs into work and hearing the bag rattle all day as co-workers picked them up up front. They were for visiting children to our Clan tent last weekend, but most parents didn't want their kids to have them. Note for next year: apples or granola bars. :)

But apples are just so boring and healthy aren't they? :D Actually I'm allergic to them, so they are not healthy for me!

High school kids dressed up look great don't they? So grown up. :)

Someone else mentioned Twizzlers in a blog post recently. It must be a trend!

Just before Starbuck's took over the world, a little funky coffee bar opened up in the little funky town where I lived then. I liked to go there. It was frequented in the evenings by 18-20 year olds who were too young to go to bars. The girls, dressed up, looked about 25, but the boys looked 15.

I need to revisit Stone Mountain... I haven't been there since reading Michael Malone's novel, "Handling Sin." One of the best chase scenes ever written takes place at Stone Mountain.

Lynn,
The lake looks like such a gorgeous spot! And - fireworks over the mountain...what a great site (I'm picturing it in my head right now).

My toy box growing up was filled with dress up clothes. Wigs and fancy dresses and high heels. I don't remember the boys ever being interested in dressing up and wonder if the box had contained tuxedos and suits whether they would have been more inclined. Now I know there are exceptions to the rules in every case but stereotypically boys just don't want to pretend they are going to a party or a wedding. By high school the girls are ready for genuine dress up and look like starlets while their dates look like uncomfortable little boys.

Joe -

I have never heard of an apple allergy - I would hate that! I just had one.

They did look nice, but I guess times have really changed. My parents would have never let me go out in something as sexy looking as those cocktail dresses they were wearing.

The customer service guy was just telling me how much he doesn't like those Twizzlers. :)

Yes - some of those boys looked at ease, but most didn't.

I just ordered that book - if there is a chase scene at Stone Mountain, then I must read it!

It's a wonderful park and I aspire to get back into walking around it - it's about five miles around.

I used to walk up the mountain, but I've got a knee that hurts and that seems to aggravate it.

Lance -

It's a fireworks/laser show - they've had it for years. It's fun.

Grannie Annie -

That is exactly the scene they set.

Gorgeous shot, Lynn! I confess I wouldn't be able to pass up the twizzlers either :)

Twizzler deprived children? That's obscene!

Gorgeous top shot Lynn; well done!

(Hope your day is progressing swimmingly girl!)

That is some view! Gorgeous.

I like Twizzlers. Of all the candy available, they seem to be one of the least offensive choices.

After a dinner the family had
fireworks popped and all were glad

over dressed and undressed

Twizzlers were out and apples in
a gift from your clan friends

Thank you - I haven't had Twizzlers yet - I figure that I've been hard enough on my teeth and shouldn't add to the burden. :)

Mama Zen -

Right? I know.

It's been OK so far. I hope your day is going swimmingly, too.

I just missed a boat that someone was rowing in the water. I spotted them when I was giving the hostess our name and then they were out of sight by the time I got there - it would have given that shot a little more interest. :) It's all good, I guess.

I used to be a weight loss counselor and that was what we told clients that they could get at the movies.

I like it! Thank you for my poem. :)

What a view! The fireworks over the mountain must've been amazing! (Have I mentioned how much I love your town?)

As for Twizzlers, why not? They're fun candy and they last a while. Much more exciting than apples and granola bars! :)

Wow- Great view! If I didn't know better I'd think you were in the Scottish Highlands!
Fireworks are always fun!
Maybe HomeComing or Sadie Hawkins?
Or Raisins are good too- but i noticed the small packets are getting expensive for Halloween handouts this year!

(Poor Joey!) I've got 3 on the table for snacks this week... Maybe I'll bake one-

I thought they were a good choice, too. Oh well.

I don't know if you mentioned it, but I'm glad to hear it. I love it, too.

Riot Kitty -

I think so, too.

Snaggle -

We thought perhaps homecoming. Raisins in boxes are a great idea - I'll add that to my notes for next year.
