Party over here, coolness and grilled cheese

- Every night around 8pm, five little birds fly into my back porch and descend into this container of ivy. Lots of hopping about and then one by one, they fly away. It's a little bird festival and it's always right on schedule.

- The temperature in Atlanta on Saturday reached the high 70s, giving us a break from the heat. There was some back porch reading time and a little music listening time out there on Friday night.

- A grilled cheese sandwich, using Muenster cheese and a whole wheat pita pocket drizzled with olive oil. So good and a simple Sunday night supper.

The bird festival sounds great!

Sounds like a perfect weekend to me! I could eat a grilled cheese sandwich right now, although my stomach wouldn't agree I'm sure.

That is when I would be wishing that at 8PM I could turn into a tiny elf and join the festivities.

Enjoy your moment's reprieve from the heat because if it is like the one we had, it lasted about 24 hours and poof it was gone. We bounced right back to the triple digits.

I just happen to have muenster cheese and olive oil but will have to use whole wheat tortilla instead. Guess it can serve as a Monday night supper too:)

Interesting way to make a grilled cheese sandwich.

The birds are slowly disappering from my place, which is due more to me wanting to relocate the feeders.

Reconstruction one might say.

Yummy sounding sandwich, and a party of little birds on a pleasant summer evening. :)

This might be my favorite three things ever. All so simple, all so lovely.

Joe -

That bird festivity has been the funniest thing - I can see that hanging planter from my couch and just like clockwork they sort of excitedly fly up, as if it is the next stop on the evening rounds. :)

It was a quiet weekend, but good.

Granny Annie -

Yes - the heat is back into the 90s today. And that tortilla sounds just as good!

I wonder why they are leaving? They don't like where the feeders are then?

I wonder if my little birds are from the nests that have been on the back porch before.

It was yummy. And I love that bird party. :)

Thank you! You make my day!

High 70s? I could weep. It's 105 here.

Yes Lynn~ it was cooler (here) this weekend as well, but with drizzle. It is again, a scorcher today with sun! I love coming to your blog after mu morning housework that a Mom must do having two teenagers living in the house. My daughter has her own bathroom (she's 15) but after cleaning it today (she's gone...) I think that it is more of a CURSE then a blessing!!!!!!!!!!! Argggh. Your calm, cool and tidy (!!!) blog is a relief for my worn out thumb and my housemaids knee....
Thankful for it today! Picturing the birds as you described.

We have an old clothesline pole in our side backyard and I wanted to pull it down. I JUST noticed that a small bird is squeezing in and OUT of the top pole. She must have babies in there or live in it! Imagine that and judging from her size I'm not quite sure how she fits!

I was addicted to grilled cheese and tomato all through my first pregnancy. Reading your post is making me hungry for them again!

I love the idea of a bird fest and reading on the back deck sounds perfect...in Atlanta. (Too hot here, amiga!) :)

Have a great week!

No matter how recently I have eaten, reading your blog always makes me hungry! (That's because of the grilled cheese, not ivy and birds btw.)

Glad you're getting a break from the heat--it is hot here (unless it's raining!)

Mama Zen -

Yes - it was just for those two days and now it's back in the 90s. I hope it cools off for you soon.

Thank you - "cool, calm and tidy" - I like that. And I love coming to your blog for a respite from the concrete jungle I work in - your photos of the mountains are breathtaking.

How interesting that the bird chose that spot. I'm glad that pole is still up!

I can only imagine how hot it is in Miami. And I love tomatoes in a grilled cheese, too - yum, thanks for the reminder, Chica!

Riot Kitty -

lol! And I hope you got a good snack. :)

You were just here! I can't imagine what time it must be where you are. Which is hot - I am very sure. :)

Mostly because I've run out of bird food, which is equally due to them eating it and the squirrels eating it.

So I need to relocate to another part of the yard with a better anti-squirrel feeder.

Once I can get that fixed, the bird population should return to normal at my house. :D

Ahhh, I wonder what those little birdies talk about at the party?? Maybe about where the good eating grounds are? :)

We had some cool recently too-- dipped to 95 one day.

I have kind of battled the squirrels, too. My dad gave me a feeder once that was supposed to be squirrel proof, but they found a way around it. :)

Jannie -

That's probably what they are discussing - the food!

Maybe they're eating the bugs? Well, they have to check- you hung it there just for them, after all!
Glad you cooled off a bit at least- sounds very brutal in most of the nation here-
A healthy sounding grilled chees!
Mine are terrible- a croissant (free from work), sliced with white american gv- ($1 per package)- micro waved. But quick!
