The big day, score and hanging of the greens

 - Thanksgiving day at my cousin's home in Fayetteville, Georgia was all that I thought it would be.  Favorite moments:  41 relatives cramming into the den to hold hands and bless the food, two little third cousins "playing the piano" and taking requests for songs, the delicious praline pumpkin cheesecake that all of us had spotted in the November issue of Southern Living.  Yum.

 - Telling my cousin how much I loved the crunchy "bread and butter" pickles and scoring a jar to bring home.  :)

- And a few minutes ago, my own hanging of the greens on my front door.  It has little white lights in it and I love walking up to my door after dark and seeing it lit up and glowing.

I've heard an awful lot about "Black Friday", but it will be golden for me.  (The time and weather app on my new computer cracked me up with its black background.) :) I have the day off and I'm about to light the fireplace and have coffee.  I hope you all have a golden weekend, too, my friends.

Wow sounds like you've had a wonderful time. 41 relatives in one room could be a nightmare for some, but I'm glad it wasn't for you!

I love the wreath. I wish I could see the lights.
We don't have black Friday here n the UK.

Have a lovely weekend too!!!

41!!! Whew. Oh yes, I could go for some homemade bread and butter pickles. Your front door is lovely. Hope you are enjoying Black Friday at home and not planning to fight the crowds.

Them pickles look like they are to die for.

I spent Friday off as well. Fortunately for me, I stayed far away from the maddening crowds.

Joe -

Fortunately my cousin's house and yard is roomy - we were spread out the rest of the day. I never did talk to a couple of people.

Granny Annie -

I stayed away from all that yesterday. :)

And thank you - I love my wreath.

Riot Kitty -

Did you see the recipe? My cousin says it is not difficult, but there are a number of steps you do at different times. That praline topping was to die for.

Shionge -

You'd be welcome here for Thanksgiving. It is a wonderful thing.

FB -

And she preserved the pickles herself - so good.

Crunchy, sweet and savory at the same time. Yum.

No need for me to get in all that madness - we have a new rule now in our family, we buy presents for the people we are spending the holidays with. So for me - it's six presents and the kids really want gift cards (whatever). At least I have fun buying stocking stuffers. :)

It sounds like a joyful holiday.
That's funny about the cheesecake. I made the Southern Living pumpkin cheesecake too! (We're having it tonight, though.)

What a GORGEOUS centerpiece!!

Ahhhh, I am getting a glow just thinking about the glow you get from seeing your pretty lights bringing joy. I think I'll start putting up ours tomorrow!

lol on the black background. We stayed HOME yesterday.

That's a lot of relatives and I love that the kids played piano and took requests. I would've totally enjoyed that!

Crunchy bread and butter pickles sound yummy. I don't think I've ever tried them.

Nice wreath...and cool that it lights up at night! Sounds like you're fully into the season. Enjoy!!!

Those pickles are now in the refrigerator and I will eat one or two a day. So good.

I like my wreath - I'm glad you liked the photo.

Scarlet -

There was a little sisterly skirmish over the piano - their grandmother had to referee. :) But it was all good in the end.

Talon -

Totally golden. It's good to see you, my friend.
