Giving thanks, paper turkey and protection

- The Thanksgiving card we are sending to our printing clients. A lovely idea (not mine) for a day that celebrates giving thanks and is one of my favorite days of the year because I get to see all my family at once.

- Coworker Tony helping his young granddaughter make "feathers" for her paper turkey she is to take to school. He suggested using colorful fall leaves and cutting them into feather shapes.

- He says he sent her to the fenced in back yard to get the leaves. She went to the back door, opened it and said, "Poppie?" "Yes, baby?" "It's dark out." "You'll be OK." "But what if there are raccoons out there?" "There aren't any - it's fenced in." "Poppie?" "Yes, baby?" "Will you go with me?" Me: "So did you go with her?" Of course he did. :)

I think grandparents are the best thing EVER. Thank you for the sweet story of love for a child. It does remind me to be thankful. I wish I could be with my family at Thanksgiving. We are scattered far and wide and it just never seems to happen. I hope you have a blessed holiday.:)

Love the conversation between father and daughter!

And - what a nice card to send out!

We receive a lot more Thanksgiving cards than we have in the past. That is because no one has to worry about offending different religions.

Our grandchildren would never ask Grandpa Ron to go with them because they know he would say, "You can do it. There is nothing to be afraid of. Go on." And only I would know that he watched out the window the whole time.

I would be hoping there WERE raccoons! Nonetheless, that's awfully cute. :-)

Love that Thanksgiving card and its holder! This made me think of one of my all-time favorite kid projects; tracing your hand and then making a turkey out of it that you can embellish. What FUN. I think we should work on it, Lynn!

This "Poppie" is the greatest grandfather ever - he is a caregiver to this little girl and her baby brother and they are the apple of his eye. She comes to work with him sometimes - she is adorable - long blond hair always with a jaunty bow attached. I like to sit on the floor with her and play dolls.

I hope you have a blessed holiday, too. This is the first year we are relocating to a cousin's home in another town because her parents home has finally sold. We had three Thanksgivings in it after her mom died and her dad went to live in assisted living. I am so thankful that we are all close - there will be at least 40 people there.

Thank you - we are grateful for our wonderful clients.

I enjoyed that, too. :)

Granny Annie -

I guess it is like that now.

And it is lovely that Grandpa Ron watches from the window. That shows how much he loves them.

Raccoons are kind of cute, but I would give them a healthy distance, too. :)

And that is my heart shaped business card holder - I just propped the card in there for an iPhone shot. :)

I have one of those kids who also likes to be accompanied to dark places! So cute that 3rd one.

BEAUTIFUL card. Sentiment so true. I hope it brings you lots of repeat business.

And so glad you will get to be with all your family. I'm sure you, your mom, and sisters will laugh up a storm of love!

I understand about being scared of raccoons. They can be aggressive sometimes, and if I were a little girl I would be worried too. We all need someone to be there with us sometimes.

He said she overheard him saying he saw a raccoon the other day, but it would have been outside the fence.

Nice! (The heart shaped holder...) I might trace my hand and make a 'turkey' for the blog...watch 4 it, Lynn.

Aw, that's a sweet conversation.

I remember those paper turkeys we made in school...the ones where you trace your hand. Loved all that artsy stuff!

I never had a Grandfather, but reading a story like this makes me so wish I had. What a unique relationship it is.

Lovely story. :)

Very nice card- or table placard as well-
I worry alot more about skunks than Racoons! I bump into them alot coming home from work.
I could actually hear the little voice in my head reading your description!

Darn I will miss Thanksgiving this year too- Have to work.

You are indeed very blessed to see all your folks!
