Building memories, embracing technology and taking care

- When her grandmother asked her what she was doing, she said, "Building memories."  My great niece Mina will be three years old in January.

- Loving that my sister has embraced the iPhone we talked her into buying when she was down south this summer, especially when it results in text messages with photos like this.

- She sent another of Mina's mom sick on the couch with Mina tucking dolls around her for comfort.  Such a fun baby child.  So hard to believe I'm a great aunt still and that Mina is growing up so quickly.  :)  Can you tell I love her?

Mina is a doll. Is that her given name or a nickname? "Making memories" is a fabulous response. Yes, we can tell that you love her:)

Thank you! She's got the family sense of humor, too. Mina is her given name - probably more commonly heard in her other country of Turkey. She has dual citizenship, but was born in New York City.

And could you not love a child like that. She seems to me be an "old soul". I loved how she placed her dolls around her sick mom. That's so sweet.

Lucky you to be in the presence of such a creative spirit:~)

What an awesome kid!! Building memories. :)

I've only been texting for a little while now, but I LOVE it. So instant, convenient and fun.

Did you upgrade to the iPhone 4? I still have my old 3GS, but it's great.

How could you not love her. I am so impressed that she is starting early on the building memories game. May they stand her in good stead for all her days...

How precious a memory that niece is in that pic! I guess spices make good towers...
Wish I had an iphone, but wouldn't have such cute pics to send out- lucky you getting gold like that-
Being as great Aunt is a special thing, glad you are enjoying it. I've only met my great-nephews once, back in May. Hope you get to see her around the upcoming holidays.
Thanks for sharing the amazing cuteness n budding wisdom!

Joanne -

Thank you -

My sister in Florida has a new grandson, too, and I'm getting text pics of him, too. Technology is a great thing when you live so far apart from family.

Sara -

She is an "old soul" - when my mother passed away in February, it was so wonderful to have her there with us. A bright little spirit. The first morning, when we were at breakfast at the hotel, she dug in my purse and came out with a pen and handed it to me. She wanted me to draw a snowman on a napkin. Her mom said, "Tell her what to put on it, Mina." Mina began with, "A carrot nose." Then, "A hat." etc. So cute.

Joe -

Children are such a gift.

Jannie -

I got the iPhone 3GS for $50 only in July 2011 and figure it hasn't worn out enough to warrant replacing. I am missing out on "face time." My sister in Florida says good morning to her new grandson 2 hours away every day and sees his smile.

The Elephant's Child -

She is a special one and I am looking forward to watching her grow up.

I am lucky. I haven't gotten to see Mina in person since February, but get to see lots of pics and little videos her mom makes.

Cool pic.

And such a sensible little girl too. :D

We should all be doing simple things like building memories to pass away the time and brighten our day.

I like it that her mother taught her that expression. It had to come from her - it's something we all say in our family.

Sandie -

Thank you - she is!
