Because Nice Matters, getting ready and mesmerizing

- The nicest client I have has this sign in her office "Because Nice Matters" - her friend's mother gave it to her when she got this job, in which she interacts with many, many people.  She didn't need it - she's nice anyway, but I love the thought.  And it's true.

- Someone else nice:  my cousin Susan's husband Sam, who has reinvented himself in his 50s by graduating from barber school and opening an old fashioned barber shop in Fayetteville, Georgia.  This morning on facebook, there is a photo of Santa, who was there getting ready for the season with a hair and beard clipping.

- Current book:  "A Plague of Doves" by Louise Erdrich.  "Every so often something shatters like ice and we are in the river of our existence.  We are aware."  Booklist calls the novel "mesmerizing" and it is.  I'm not wanting it to end.  And in fact, there is a sequel.  Yay!

"Because NICE Matters!" I really like that sign and could think of quite a few places where the it is acted on if not displayed. It does make so much more enjoyable to be around someone who understand how to be nice:~)

I like what Sam has done and the old fashioned barber shop. I say go for your dreams!

It's so great when you find a wonderful book and there's already a sequel to it. I love when that happens.

That is a good sign, and yes nice does matter. She sounds like a nice client to have. I remember the printing world only too well, and most of the clients weren't that nice at all.

Yes Yes---Nice does Matter!!!
I think what Sam has done is FANTASTIC! To decide to change your course and do something you REALLY want to do is brave and also WONDERFUL! I bet he is having the time of his life!

Nice doesn't matter nearly enough - or isn't recognised enough anyway.

A writer friend of mine just started reading Louise Erdrich and really likes her.

That's a neat sign. I made a sign for my friend's office, but it's not as polite ;)

That's so nice of you to say so, Lynn! ;)

I like wooden signs speaking truths. Barber sounds like a good sociable job. Bet Santa looks good-
Sequels to great epic books are always my wish too.
I've been reading many old sci-fi pieces that were so before their time.

You should have that sign.

I'll be Sam charges more than Ron's barber did. Ron paid $5 for a haircut. (However he usually tipped the guy another $5.)

"A Plague of Doves" is now on my list. Thanks for the tip.

An old fashioned barbershop...somehow that's just such a feel-good thing!

So true. A little kindness goes a long way. Makes a day feel so good when you run into really nice people. :)

Nothing like a good read. I just finished Gabby Douglas' autobiography. Could be a sequel, as she's aiming for Olympics 2016 too!

And hey, you wrote the book on nice!!

Absolutely - I agree. Go for your dreams - I like that.

Joe -

We have some wonderful clients and some that are not so much, but their money spends the same, I always say. :)

Naomi -

It does. And he is having the time of his life. I so enjoy following what he is doing on facebook.

Elephant's Child -

Except by me - I always try to recognize it.

Riot Kitty -

Well maybe you should blog about your sign. :)

Read that book and let me know if you like it. I think you would.

Lee -

:)

Snaggle -

I am with you on the sci fi - they do seem ahead of their time sometimes.

Granny Annie -

Thank you for saying - I might see if I can find one. :)

And let me know what you think about the book.

Joanne -

They live in a suburb of Atlanta that has a small town feel, so I think it's neat he's doing that.

Talon -

Absolutely!

Jannie -

Thanks Jannie Muffin! You are pretty nice yourself. :)
