Scarecrow party, winner, winner and runners up

There is one of those community gardens near the Greenway park where I walk on the weekends in which one can rent plots for vegetable and flower gardens.  The "plotters" had a scarecrow competition recently.  You know I loved walking around taking pics of that.  :)  Here we go:

- It's a scarecrow party!  Here are some of them in a group.  The winners are next, taken the next morning, in order, after the voting.  As always, click to enlarge to see them better.

- This guy with the red bandanna won first prize.  It wasn't the most creative to me, but perhaps it was the most realistic.  And he's a University of Georgia Bulldogs fan.  (That's what "Go Dawgs" means to us in the South.)  :)

- The woman who owns the antique shop with the cat I like, took second place.  I liked her pumpkin head man amid the morning glory vines.

- Third place is a pretty lady.  Love the marigolds at her feet that match her trousers.

- I think this anatomically correct lady was robbed!  Very colorful and happy.  :)

- And if I was a crow, I'd be afraid of those pie tins!  I liked this one, too.  But they were all good, in my opinion.  I had a wonderful time walking around them.

And I hope you have a wonderful time this weekend, no matter what you are doing.  Have a great one!

I could proudly display all of those on my property. If you remember, our scarecrow is Vincent and he is quite a scary critter. Not your traditional type at all.

I am sure it will keep the birds away. Funny.

Greetings,
Filip

What fun. Thank you.

We have a few community gardens (not enough), but they are tucked away in inaccessible spots unless you have a car and the waiting list for a plot is several years. And only the plot holders can go into them... Sad.

So cool! I've never seen pie plates used that way. The birds would not like them. What a cool spot! and great shots.

Hope you're anticipating a lovely relaxing weekend, Lynn!

Scarecrows just make you smile don't they?!
The gardens still look so green. I think ours are done for up here. Frost this weekend!

That is so cute! I've never seen a scarecrow lady before...let alone one that was robbed of her anatomy ;) There must be some kind of karma consequence associated with that.

It's the annual "Scarecrow Festival" here where I live this weekend (the scarecrows usually linger about for a week). Scarecrows are everywhere; so the mountain will be full of people out and about looking along with visitors from other areas. A friend and I made them for a couple of years and set them up; but now she's moved away, I've not continued the practice.

It's all a lot of fun and lots of imagination put into creating them.

Granny Annie -

I do remember your awesome scarecrow Vincent.

Filip -

I actually was trying to snap a photo of a bird on one their heads, but it flew away just as I was snapping. :)

Elephant's Child -

Thank you - I had fun taking those pics.

That's a shame that the plots there aren't more accessible. One of my walking friends wants to get a plot that we could work on as a group, but I'm pretty sure I would be the one working on it and I didn't really get the gardening gene.

Talon -

I've also seen CDs strung up in gardens, which must work,t oo.

How neat! I would love to see that.

Thank you for coming by! I hope you are having a good weekend, too.

Cool scarecrows. Good way to have a pleasant conversation and not have to worry about people looking at you funny. :D

Nice scarecrows! We had a competition in town too, but I can't put up any pics yet, n I didn't see who won from ones nearby- ours aren't as brightly dressed...
