This view - later today, going to ground and Memorial Day

- This photo is the screen saver for my computer at work.  When I'm stressed out, I can just look at this image of the Hiwassee River, that runs along the back of my sister's vacation home in western North Carolina, and my blood pressure will go down.  That's where I'll be later today, after making my way north, along with hoards of other people departing the city.

- I do have friends who live in that area, so won't have to be completely alone, but I never mind the prolonged moments when I am by myself.  There is a memoir that Amy Blackmarr wrote about her time alone in her late Grandfather's old fishing cabin, to which she had a prolonged retreat.  It's called "Going to Ground" and our friend Sage reviewed it here.  I snagged it from the library to bring with me and will read it on the back porch this weekend.  Thanks Sage!

- And I am mindful that I get a holiday on Monday because we honor and remember the people who lost their lives while serving in the armed forces.  It's lovely that they set aside that day for remembrance.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, too.  Happy Friday, y'all!

Have a wonderful peaceful relaxing Weekend. I have always LOVED Memorial Day......I always found it very moving as a kid, watching our Hometown Memorial Day Parade....Brought me to tears every time.
We need to remember all those who came home with Horrific injuries, too.....Honorable Men and Women, ALL!!!
I can see why that picture lowers your Blood Pressure.....and how wonderful that you will be near the real place, for the Weekend....ENJOY!

That view is sublime and would lower my blood pressure too.
Time alone is a necessity for me if the psycho bitch from hell is to be kept caged.

Lovely screen saver. I have a beach photo as my desktop wallpaper at work. It's nowhere I've been myself, but it's nice to take a mental break on a sunny beach every now and then.

Canada's long weekend was last week; the 18th was Victoria Day. Enjoy yours!

Your screen saver looks like my front yard! Our area is flooding and the only things going to ground are the animals, like snakes and little lost deer looking for their mamas. Our Memorial weekend lake goers have to be disappointed about the downpour for their weekend but at least things will be quieter for the residents. So many never see the reason for this holiday.

Great screen saver pic. Wish I could put a few of those up on my work computer, but alas, IT does not allow us to actually give our computers a homey touch to them.
