Cherished, how it could look and finally did it

- The internet tells me that Saturday is National Cherish an Antique Day.  There's a day for everything, I think!  The few antiques I have are inherited from my late parents and this vase, there in the middle, is my favorite, I think.

It's a Fenton Hobnail Milk Glass rose vase, probably made in the late 1940s.  My parents likely received it as a wedding gift.  When we were clearing out the storage shed on the last day we were at our family home a few years ago, I found it among some clay pots.  I remembered it from childhood - mom used to have a houseplant in it, I think.  I'm keeping collected matchbooks in it right now, but roses would be pretty.  I never knew it was called that until yesterday.  See image below found online:

- I had oral surgery a few days ago (nothing serious) and was mostly confined to home for a few days, so had time to walk around and really look at everything I have.  The wall pocket below had been sitting propped up on my bathroom counter, waiting to be hung, for months.  And I bought it about 15 years ago.  That's an azalea bloom plucked from the condo property stuck in one of those water holding vials:

Procrastination should be my middle name.  :)  I hope you have a lovely weekend, my friends!

Oh I know what I will post tomorrow. Never heard of National Antique Day but you certainly posted a treasure for the weekend. Guess it is time for printers to go to the dentist. My son went this week and will have a wisdom tooth pulled next week.

Thanks for sharing the lovely photos of your treasures, Lynn. I too have a few things from my parents, but no antiques. And, we share similar experiences as I also had dental surgery this week (periodontal) and will be going for another procedure in May. This one was relatively pain-free afterwards and hooe yiurs goes as well too.

Lovely items. I'll have to tell everyone to cherish me on Saturday :)

One of my (few) treasured antiques is a hobnail vinegar jug -- but instead of being white hobnail glass, it is clear aquamarine blue hobnail glass.

Happy to hear your surgery went well. The top of the vase is beautiful. Flowers or roses, as you say, would look gorgeous in there!

Lynn, I’m working on ‘resurrecting’ my original blog (with the Appalachian mountain history) but adding onto it with this new version from Milwaukee. I just realized I cannot let all of that (5+ years?) just go….Also, I cannot stand not being able to link to (and to show) links to others’ blogs…like yours! So~I’m working on it…and it will be up soon. So~I’ll be moving back! Thanks for bearing with me…and my numerous changes! Also~ I have to buy a domain name/spot. Did you buy one for this bog? Now i will go back and read your new post! :-) Karen

National Cherish an Antique Day! Thanks for sharing that! I am 'obsessed with' (and have) many antiques!!!!!!! I 'adore' your Milk Glass rose vase. It is petite and quite sweeeet! ;-) Even better that it was...your parent's, though. I (just) love walking about in my own house and getting reacquainted with all of the old (and some older...) items...over and over again! Have a great and good weekend, Lynn! Enjoy your good weather there! (Sn-sn-snowing here :-( ???) I spend (some) of my time in various and sundry antique shops almost each and every Saturday, just perusing and sleuthing about, happy as a clam (what an expression, there!) Never knew that they were happy!?! ;-)

Love that vase - and chuckling in rueful sympathy at sage's comment. I am a procrastinator too. When I am not a bull at the gate (a cow at the gate?).

Love milk glass! My mom had several pieces, which, unfortunately did not come my way.

Ah yes, the rose vase is perfectly suited to holding roses. :-) And that wall pocket is great. I love hand-made pottery.

I hope that your mouth is all healed up a.s.a.p.

What a beautiful vase!

That is a neat vase indeed. It reminds me of a pattern that I saw on vases at my great-grandmother's house as a kid.
