Blue morning, giving thanks and family time

A little catching up to do - I haven't posted in almost a month!  Going backwards, starting with last Saturday morning.

Last Saturday morning - 7:30am - the view from my front door.  A blue morning in a winter wonderland.  We are not accustomed to snow in Georgia.  I can't think of the last time it snowed.  It was glorious while it lasted.

It was already melting in the afternoon, once the temps rose.  Snowmen were everywhere, but my favorite was this little one on the table in front of Five Guys.

Not to worry - I was sitting completely still when I snapped this photo on Friday afternoon, during the harrowing ride home.  Georgians don't know how to drive on snow, y'all.  It took me two hours to go 20 miles, but it was lovely to get a fire going and have a little sofa nap later.  AND to wake up to that blue morning the next day.

Thanksgiving Day was spent in Fayetteville, Georgia at my cousin's house and the extended family.  Because my immediate family was coming together from Atlanta, Virginia, Florida and Mexico, we stayed at a hotel the night before.  I didn't realize how starved I was for family time until we were all together.  Favorite moment:  a smiling older couple from Detroit, Michigan were also staying at the hotel and just before they got on the elevator to go up to their room, they spontaneously jitterbugged for several seconds.  We applauded.  It was that kind of fun night.

My cousin's home has lots of space, indoors and out, for the 40+ family gathered together in Thanksgiving.  We convoyed to my sister and brother-in-law's farm in northern Florida on Thanksgiving afternoon.

Thanksgiving crafts by two great-nieces on Friday morning.

And all the little ones got a tractor ride on Saturday, before everyone drove away.  A lovely few days.

Next week - holiday magic.

We got snow recently as well, like SC it rarely snows here but it's not superrare in the Greenville area since we are semi-close to the mountains

I have been missing you, and am thrilled to see that your time away was filled with family fun and magic.
And, as we ramp into the sweaty season, your snow pictures are a very welcome breath of fresh air.

So pleased to see you back, I was a little worried, but am very pleased you were just busy having fun!

I love the Thanksgiving crafts, they look very professional.

We had snow on Monday which is very rare here in this part of the UK too, often we can go all year with none. I'm glad to say it was gone by Wednesday after a heavy day of rain, which is much more typical in the UK! I do find it beautiful but was very disappointed it meant I couldn't go to a gig with my daughter.

Love all your photos as usual!

It has been awhile girl. We had 11 inches of snow where I live - wasn't it wonderful? And no - driving is not an easy thing here. sandie

Hello, your Thanksgiving with the family sounds wonderful. The crafts look so cute. We had about 6 inches of snow last Saturday, that enough for me to last the rest of the winter, lol.
I am glad you are well, nice to see a post. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

Happy after Christmas to you, Lynne.

I know what you mean about not blogging as mine has been sporadic in recent weeks, although a couple were pre-scheduled. We were "on the road" for 3 weeks from after Thanksgiving till the week before Christmas. It wasn't exactly a vacation, but more of an extended road trip that included checking the VA house and getting some minor repairs completed, then learning the closing date would not happen aa expected (extension requested). We did see friends in DC and attend the USAF band holiday concert there as well as attending out granddaughter's 1st birthday party in PA. While in VA he had no internet access at the house, so no time to read fellow bloggers holiday posts (drat). We were able to spend Christmas in our own place for the first time in several years and that was great! Hope your holidays were joyous and that the coming new year holds wonderful surprises in store (all good).
