Travelogue, proper enough and sweet voice

From the Amalfi Coast, Italy, by Bonnie Evans

- Friend Bonnie's daily travelogue emails, accompanied by many photos - one after the other. Each more beautiful than the next. Her recounts of the day's events are delightful, what they saw, what they ate and little encounters with people off the beaten path. I replied to one email that I want an email about her life every day, even when she is back home in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

- Too busy and tired after a long day to make a proper dinner, I have leftover party food. Crackers with Havarti cheese topped with avocado slices. So good!

- I talk to my mother on the telephone every day, usually during my commute home. But last night speaking to her finally at 9:30pm. It is lovely to hear her sweet voice saying, "OK honey, good night."

Lynn,
You are putting me in the mood to TRAVEL! Love the picture your friend shared with you.

And...a mother's love never ends...

We don't need to tell you to treasure those moments with your mom. Oh what I wouldn't give to have my mom tell me goodnight.

Sounds like a great snack you had last night. I love avocado even if it is fattening!

The photo is beautiful too.

My daughter spent time on the Amalfi coast and she had so much fun as well as being blown away by waking up to sea views each morning.

I haven't had Havarti cheese in ages. Now I think I'll have to pick some up because it sounds so good!

It's a lovely way to end a day - with someone you love wishing you goodnight.

Your dinner actually sounds wonderful -- and just right for a hot night when no one wants to turn on the oven. :)

A writer I know and love once said that we choose the writers we like to read for their personality, not for the information they give or the fact that the critics like them or whatever, and that a good writer is like a friend whose take on things you enjoy, and you could sit with them talking while they do dishes and still love every word. Sounds like your friend Bonnie's writing is that way for you -- and I'm sure it would be just as fun to see home through her eyes. Hope you convince her!

I wish you many, many, many more "good nights" from your mother -- and I know you treasure every one. Bless you both, Lynn.

At first I thought I came to the wrong page because of the new format, but it looks great contrasted with that photo. Once again, your post makes me hungry! We're off to the airport in a couple of hours, but I'll snack and think of you ;)

Lance -

I've been to the UK, but not the rest of Europe. I would love to go to Italy.

Granny Annie -

She is so sweet and I love to talk to her. I understand how you feel - my father passed away in December and I wish I could hear his voice again.

Joe -

It was SO good. Avocados are fattening, but I hear they are good for you. I have one about once a month.

Talon -

I guess all those houses on that cliff are so squished together so they can all have a good view of the water. I definitely have to visit there sometime.

Havarti with dill, I should have said. I love it.

I know - I'll have to call her more often at her bedtime.

Meredith -

Bonnie is such an exuberant woman and never meets a stranger. I never expected this treat - she is sending this to her facebook connections. So I get the emails and read this first and then go on facebook and view the photos.

Thank you, I hope mom and I have many more good nights, too. I'll see her Saturday and told her to be thinking of something fun she would like to do.

Riot Kitty -

The format should be the same - but blogger has rearranged some stuff in the header that threw me for a loop.

The airport just might have something good - I know the Atlanta airport is full of good food vendors. :)

Thank you for my little poem. I always look forward to a recap with poetry!

On those nights when I don't make a proper dinner, I usually go for goldfish crackers or popcorn. So silly.

That coast looks like a dreamy dreamy place. I do believe I shall tarry there in my dreams tonight. :)

My mom is hard to reach these days, as she and Dad are at the cottage a lot, and have no phone there. No news is good news, I guess. :)

Tarry away, my friend. I hope I dream of that, too.

Wow - it is difficult to imagine life with no phone. But that could be refreshing!

That's a beautiful photo...I'm inspired. Let's take a blogger field trip to the Amalfi Coast of Italy!

Havarti cheese with avacado slices are divine...and even better with wine.

Sweet conversation with your mother. Reminds me of the last thing my mother would tell me every night before bed when I was a kid..."que sueñes con los angelitos," which means, dream with little angels (or dream OF little angels)...not sure which one she meant, but either way it was sweet.

Hmmm- I bet you could publish a really good travel log! Where would you choose to go?
leftover party treats are great. Sometimes I just eat the cake tho... not too good!
Lucky you get to still hear Mom's voice- That's something I really miss these ten years later- her voice. I did keep some recordings of Mom's analogue phone messages just so I can hear it!

A blogger trip to the Amalfi Coast sounds heavenly!

Yeah - I did have a little Pinot Grigio with that. :)

"que sueñes con los angelitos" - so lovely. What a nice memory.

I'd love to go to France, Italy and Spain. I would so enjoy writing a travelogue. :)

That's nice that you kept the phone messages with you mom's voice. How nice.
