The fabric, lucky day and that's what it's all about

- Passing miles and miles of cotton growing in south Georgia last weekend, many times seeing it growing up to a farmhouse's front door. I never get tired of gazing at it - it's a big deal down there.

- A client I visit at her home has made too much soup and sends me off with a ziplock bag of it. It's a thick tomato soup with pasta in it and just the ticket for lunch back at the office for a gal with a cold.

- A quote that I like: The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects the wind; the realist adjusts the sails.

I was so excited the first time I saw a cotton field. It was something I had only previously seen in movies or photos. There was also a cotton bale at the side of the field and it was as big as a mini van! Very impressive.

Mmmm...the soup sounds delicious (and wonderfully timed)!

And - I love seeing big fields, too (although not much cotton up here...that has to be a nice sight...).

Your cotton fields awakened a memory for me. In high school my girlfriend and I asked her dad if we could chop cotton. We wanted to get tans and thought that would be the perfect way to earn some money and get a tan. We went to work in our bathing suits and her dad dropped us off in the field. Said he would be back a noon to get us. We chopped cotton for about 15 minutes before we realized what a huge mistake we made. This was before cell phones and we could do nothing but wait which was going to be about 3 1/2 hours. Needless to say her dad showed up to get us after only 30 minutes, knowing all along we would be ready to go.

Your clients always seem to be doing nice things for you.

Loved the quote. Oh so true.

I've never seen a cotton field in real life. Thanks for the pic. And tomato soup... yum. You have a beautiful day, friend. :)

I love cotton fields too. We always get out and photograph them and 'feel' a real piece of cotton! It is so close (on the plant) to the real deal that one can't help but think about what you could make with it. Especially Q-tips; you can just see how they are made! Cooool product cotton is, and even on the vine!

Wow, I like that quote a lot!! Feel like I'm adjusting my sails here today with some lyric tweaking. Action -- action!

I'm not sure if I've ever seen a cotton field. I think yes, maybe here in Texas a long while ago. I would like to squeeze those little puff balls and see what they smell like!

I do love cotton -- have it on now, both sweatshirt and spandex-cotton pants.

Hope you're feeling better? Big Hugs to you.

xoxo

Leonora -

I thought about stopping to snap a photo of the cotton bales, but just didn't. You are right - they are huge. There were also cotton balls up and down the side of the road that had escaped.

Lance -

I was thankful for that soup. I have a cold I can't shake and have exhausted the soup possibilities around work. Today: chicken noodle from Chick-fil-a.

Granny Annie -

You make me think of my friend Ronnie's story. He got a job one summer when he was a teenager doing that, too - he picked cotton until his fingers bled that first day, but kept the money he would make in sight. And when he got his pitiful earnings at the end of that hard day, he never went back.

They have these machines now that go through the fields and it kind of sucks it in. I saw one doing that on Saturday.

happygirl -

I posted one last year, too, but it seemed like enough of a photo op to do it again.

You have a great day, too!

lg -

True - Q-tips are cotton in its purest form, I guess!

Just the last person to get the wretched cold that went through the office. I feel better today than yesterday.

Cotton is my favorite, too. I'm wearing a bit of it today, too. :)

Love the quote! I have to share it with a FB friend who's forever sailing. :)

Cool cotton pics! I have never seen anything like it close up...would love to!

As for the tomato soup, I was craving some TODAY of all days as I drove by Atlanta Bread Co. but didn't have enough time to stop. It would've helped my cold. Maybe tomorrow.

Woman, if you would stay out of the wind, you wouldn't have a cold! Feel better, Lynn!

Is it you that has the cold? If so, feel better!

Yes - I've located all the soup there is around my work area. I may repeat the Chick-fil-a chicken noodle soup today. So good.

Hope you feel better!

Thank you - I hope to. :)

It's me indeed. Thank you -

The quote made me laugh; it's a good one.

I know the scene of cotton field passing by on a long road.

The mention of that hardy soup made my stomach growl loudly. It scared the cat who immediately jumped from her chair. Perhaps I should consider eating something now.

I love your "3s." They always have something in them that makes me smile.

Thank you - I'm so glad you come by. I'm pleased every time I see you here.

Mama Zen -

Me, too. The cotton crop has made a resurgence in Georgia in recent years. I think there might have been too much heartbreak over early frosts killing fruit, so they switched to something hardier, like cotton.

Soup for you!

Wow, I thought the cotton was snow for a second there- so pretty. Free Soup was a very kind gesture. I hope your cold clears up soon. Never heard that quote before- thanks

It's what I count on every day. Thank you -

Snaggle -

It does look a little like snow - and they use those machines to pick and this crop looks as if it already had a pass or two.
