Midday stroll, rumble and memories of fishing

- Having a 45 minute walk at my favorite park (Tanyard Creek Park on Collier) at lunchtime yesterday.  I changed from my suit jacket to a hoodie, cranked up the iPod and enjoyed a midday stroll.  The bonus was the extra energy I had all afternoon.

- The rumble of a train overhead on the trestle and watching the end of it before it disappears.

- My coworker is wearing a t-shirt that depicts a fishing tournament and he is surprised to learn that I used to fish with my dad sometimes.  Dad said I wasn't a true fisherwoman since I wouldn't touch the fish or the bait, but oh my, the thrill of catching a fish can't be beat.  And most of all I loved sitting by the lake on an early Saturday morning idly chatting with dad or just sitting in companionable silence.

Sounds like just being causual in a hoodie is long overdue for you!I'm almost always casual.
Still have trains? Good perspective pic with the creek in the same shot n the trestle!
You fished? I used to fish, n do all the icky stuff too, except I didn't eat the fish... everyone else did. Sounds like a great memory with your Dad to dream about when you miss him-

I have to dress up a little for work, but at home I'm always casual, too. I have a whole collection of hoodies. :)

Yes - Atlanta has a huge railroad yard - I don't remember if I ever posted that pic or not. This train was likely on its way there.

I ran across of picture of the last time dad went fishing the other day - he was posing with the fish he caught. I think that is why that was in my head.

Glad you took time from your workday to enjoy a stroll.

Love trains! Love the picture.

I used to fish with my grandpa. The bait never bothered me and I even put worms on the hook. My granddaughter Beth is the only grandchild with enthusiasm for worms. None of the boys will touch them.

Some of the best days with my dad are spent in a boat, fishing. LOVE the trestle and train shot.

I used to like to weed the rows of potatoes in comfortable silence with Dad. A nice feeling.

Awesome you put your lunchtime to great use! VEry inspirational to a Jannie who has not been very active the past couple weeks.

Lovely post, Lynn. We like(d) to fish together, as a family, but haven't done it since my children were young! Teens are hard to get alone.

Betty -

I know - he was right. :)

And I took this photo with my iPhone - I was in the right place at the right time.

Granny Annie -

I love them, too - except when they go across that one intersection during afternoon rush hour.

I admit to being squeamish about sliminess. :)

The park service cut a covered bridge across the creek that goes through the trestle. I managed to snap the photo before the train disappeared.

Jannie -

The weather is so nice here that I just had to do yesterday at lunch. Today - after work.

I guess that's why I took to fishing much later in my adult years. :)

I'm glad to spark memories. And isn't it thrilling to catch a fish?

Beautiful pic and that's a sweet memory of your dad.

It's been a while since I've taken a midday stroll around the hood...and it's been so beautiful out, I'll have to get to it before the humidity kicks in.

Girl, I live in hoodies! Makes me think I ought to be out walking, too.

Nothing is more relaxing than fishing.

Neat park, especially with the train!

Lovely photo, and even better the memories it triggered. And walking is always good.

Anil P -

That is quite a compliment - thank you.

Scarlet -

That's exactly what I'm doing - getting used to walking outside again before the humidity kicks in. :)

Mama Zen -

Yeah - I have a whole collection, but my red one is my fav.

It is relaxing - fishing. I miss it.

Adam -

Thank you!

The train runs beside the dog park - lots of frolicking dogs around.

The Elephant's Child -

I do my best thinking and decision making when I'm walking. That is a perfect park, too, with its wide wide sidewalks and shady trees.

That looks like a pretty spot. I am in the middle of a funky industrial neighborhood, so the walks aren't too exciting.

I live in hoodies, there is something comforting about them. It's rare for me to dress in anything smarter.

I'd love to fish in AZ, but my partner hates the idea so it's never really happened, but maybe this year it will! Thank you you've made me get motivated about a new hobby.

Only thing is, I hate eating fish. :D

I love railroad trestle bridges.

Riot Kitty -

Still good that you get out and walk though.

Joe -

I am positive that your hoodies are way cooler than mine. :)

Maybe you can give the fish away! I'm glad I've inspired a new hobby.

I walked there again last night and there was another train going overhead. Never fails to delight.

Companionable silence ... that may be the best part of fishing with a good friend.

Yes - for us it was not so much about actually catching fish.
