- Midtown Atlanta at twilight. I've posted this scene before, taken from the parking deck of the Georgia Public Broadcasting building (note all the satellite dishes), but I love standing there and looking out at the twinkling lights in the city and the signs of people making their way home from work, going to dinner or still working, in some cases.
- A friend's smile when describing her favorite birthday gift on Sunday. Her
husband played Scrabble with her.
- Delighted by my fortune cookie fortune, "You discover
treasures where others see nothing unusual."

There is something special about a city at twilight after putting in a day at the office. It does create wondering about others who are ending their day as well.
I cannot get Ron to play cards or board games. Maybe he would play Scrabble since he loves crossword puzzles so much. Perhaps he got tired o beating me at everything. No challenge for him?
Every time you open a fortune cookie, that is what it should say.
#3 perfectly describes "Good Things Happened" and your attitude towards life!
"You discover treasures;" I am 'sending you' just this portion of the message.
lg!
I couldn't think of a more appropriate fortune (though they aren't really fortunes anymore, are they? More like character analysis - lol) for you, Lynn. :)
This is why I long to be a city girl. I love city lights. I love tall buildings and the skyline of a city. Thanks for sharing your fortune. I think it suits you. :)
The small things in life are often the biggest.
I love your photo, your friend's gift and the promise made to you in your fortune cooky.
Awesome pic and quotes! I needed this serenity today! Much better fortune than mine--LOL!

That is a neat picture, and your fortune sounds right on!
Lucky for you to have such a grand view of the city's Twilight time. Scabble was one of my Dad's fave games. He was so good at hitting the triple score blocks. Having the patience to play is a great gift.
That fortune is so true for you! You help us notice those good things more-

Thank you for saying that. And my sister and her husband like to play Rummykube. Maybe Ron would like that? It's a numbers game that even I like (math challenged.)

Thank you Leonora!

Thanks lg!

They are a bit like that. I never get tired of opening fortune cookies. :)

Thank you for saying that. And I love city life and suburban life equally. I am going to miss my mom's small town in south Georgia - I liked that little strip shopping center near the ALF that had a Belk store. Great clothes there.
The Elephant's Child -
Indeed! Visiting your blog is like a treasure - I love visiting a world so different from mine.

I'm glad I could give you a moment of serenity, my friend.

Thank you and the photo came out better than I thought - surprisingly clear for not using a tripod.

Thank you for saying that. And I guess that's why I enjoy Words with Friends so much.
What a lovely fortune!
I love the fortune:~) It's perfect for YOU and what you do at this site.
I agree about seeing someone light up with a smile over a special, but simple gift. Sometimes I think we focus too much on "buying things."
My boyfriend gave me a Christmas card with certain promises in it...things like he'd take me one of "my" movies, clean up the house...things that that. I treasure this card and his promises more than if he got me socks:~)
Have a great rest of your week, Lynn.
p.s. the picture is stunning:~)
Oooooo, Lynn you ARE a treasure! And boy, what a one to discover, still marvel that I am so lucky enough to have you for a friend.
Wow, gorgeous skyline and I really like the satellite dishes in there. Makes me think that in addition to those people going plkaces or working late, somewhere aliens are smiling at our lowly communications system, but loving us anyway. :)
Dishes reminded me of all those humongous ones somewhere (in Arizona maybe) that constantly wait for contact from outer spacers.
xoxo
a city sky line at night is breath taking! and to look and think about all those other people..pretty amazing really!!
I am your newer follower..pls follow back if you can.
fortune cookies are just plain fun!!
Sometimes the twilight of the city becomes a reminder of days gone by, when things were just a tad slower and a bit easier.
That is a neat fortune to get!

Thank you and thanks for stopping by!

I'm so glad you didn't get socks for a present! Your boyfriend's card is perfect. Lovely gift.

I marvel that I have you, too, my friend and very first commenter!
Don't those dishes make you think that something wonderful is going on over there? Instead of football??? Yes - they are putting football on Georgia Public Broadcasting. I just want to see Ken Burns and the like on there.
xoxoxo

Thank you for stopping by and I hope to see you again soon - that's a lot of followers you have there.
Yes - I love looking out at the heartbeat of the city.

Thanks FB.
I love driving home at the time when everyone is leaving work, or finishing for the day on their way home. Just that feeling that everyone is about to relax and have an evening off from work. :)
Oh I hate playing board games of any kind so much, so I can understand how your friend must have been delighted when her husband played Scrabble with her!

Me, too - and I love that moment of walking into my home at the end of the day and putting on all the lights just so.
We're a board game playing family, but there are certain ones I don't like either. Monopoly comes to mind, but I play it with my Monopoly loving niece sometimes.
What are you doing up there at night that late girl? Hope you are being safe in that beautiful area. sandie

I make recordings for the blind for the Georgia Radio Reading Service that operates out of Georgia Public Broadcasting. It was about 6:45pm - not too too late. The photo came out darker than it actually was out. And the security guards inside sit in front of a bank of monitor screens and can see me getting in my car. I always feels safe there.
