Morning sky, Savannah Smiles and lady glasses

- Mr C's sign was not so remarkable when I snapped this through the (dirty) windshield photo:  "Free Entertainment Nightly."  I'll bet!  But I thought the early morning sky with its low hanging clouds looked lovely as we all made our way to work.  (Taken with iPhone.)

- A coworker puts some Girl Scout cookies out to share.  A new kind this year, called "Savannah Smiles."  They are lemony tasting, covered with powdered sugar and pretty good.  The Huffington Post (seriously?) reviewed them here.  I like how one taster said, "Don't wear black while eating this cookie."  I think that's a cookie eating amateur!

- My friend Steven finds me in our meeting spot playing Words with Friends on my phone and wearing my reading glasses (1.50s for those of you in the same boat.)  He says, "Hey, I have lady glasses, too!"  And whips out a pair of readers with a zebra pattern on the side.  He spotted a pack of reading glasses on sale - 3 for $10 - and thought they were all black because they displayed that way on the front.  But when he opened them, there was the the zebra pair, purple ones and red ones.  He gamely wears them anyway.  :)

I hope beautiful things find their way to you this weekend, my friends!

Good for your friend Steven. Never realised glasses were gender specific anyway.

Don't brush your teeth when wearing a black t-shirt...but I NEVER learn! Sigh.

Does Mr. C's have any idea of the celebrity you have made them?

I have been buying a cookie like that in the grocery for years. I think they are called Lemon Delights. They are delicious and best kept in the refrigerator for ultimate flavor. Probably they will have to put a warning on the box "Do not wear black while eating this cookie".

Before I required trifocals I used to wear a multitude of reading glasses and had a pair for each outfit. Goodwill was happy to receive them when I had to give them up.

Cool specs! :)

Granny Annie is right - you're turning that sign into something special :)

You're right - if a cookie is good enough there is no problem with wardrobe - lol!

Have a beautiful weekend, Lynn!

Joe -

Steven is delightful and seemed particularly delighted with his "lady glasses."

Hmm - good tip on the teeth brushing. :)

Granny Annie -

I don't think so - I've never been in there, but I will before it's over.

The Huffington Post (who seems to have a lot of time on their hands) compared them to another GS cookie made a few years ago and contacted them about it. I like the idea of such a fun warning.

I have a pair of reading glasses for every place I might happen to be - the nicest pair is kept on my desk at work (they are those Tina Fey looking glasses), a red pair for my purse, a pair for the kitchen, home office and (yes - I admit it) the bathroom.

I am having my second cataract surgery on March 15 - I guess it would be too much to hope that no reading glasses would be required after that. Fingers crossed.

Talon -

Because those cookies can be eaten in one bite! :)

Melissa -

Steven found his at Kohls. Thanks for stopping by!

I wear 1.5s too! And I actually had a pair of the zebra ones back in my 1.25 days. Great glasses to wear for cookie eating, and reading the menu at Mr. C.s. :)

Hi Lynn,
What a delightful post. See you at Sara's all the time and thought I'd stop by! I'll be back!!!
BTW, my "readers" are 250. Ahhh, youth slips away somehow.

I so relate to LL Cool Joe. I am also guilty of dribbling toothpast.

I love the concept of lady glasses - having not long ago admitted that I can no longer read (labels particularly) without them.

Have a great weekend.

We went through four boxes of Girl Scout cookies in week and a half. Nom!

A new girl scout cookie, eh? When my daughter as in Brownies, we did the cookie enterprise--that was a lot of work getting them all delivered.

Now I want to know if they have Live Entertainment at Mr. Cs! Nice clouds- I haven't had any GSA cookies in Years, tho I used to sell them every year- Sounds like a good cookie- All you need is a strategically held paper bapkin to catch the powder-
Cheap glasses are great! I break them at work all the time- so I really like the Dollar Tree $1 plastic pairs n get a few every few weeks. I'm way up to 2.50 now- All who age need them. Colors are good for a change sometimes.
Thanks for the good week-end wishes. Have a good one too!

Jannie -

I say if you have to wear them, they might as well look good. :)

Susan -

Hello - I'll stop my your blog momentarily. Yes - youth does slip away, but such is life.

The Elephant's Child -

I know - labels are the worst. That's why I have that pair of readers close to the kitchen.

Riot Kitty -

Thin mints? They are my favorite, but have eluded me this year.

Sage -

My coworker says you can always find Girl Scouts selling them in front of drug stores and grocery stores, but I haven't seen them yet. :)

Snaggle -

Yes - I used to pound the pavement selling cookies. Not a bad way to raise money.

I hope you are having a good weekend.

I loved the story about the reading glasses. Your friend must be lots of fun:~) It's not easy for a man to wear Zebra-striped glasses.

The cookie story was also fun. You are right about the "cookie-eating amateur." Anyone who knows powdered cookies would know to lean over when you eat them so the powder falls to the floor and not the clothes:~)

Personally, I was getting very tired of our gloomy skies, but I woke up today to bright sunshine. YEAH:~)

Sara -

He is a lot of fun and in touch with his feminine side, I guess. It seems as if everyone needs those lady glasses at some point.

Yes - or pop it in your mouth whole - they are small cookies.

I heard about the sun from all over yesterday, so I'm glad it gave an appearance. :)
