Painting, peonies and pearls and Knollwood

- Friend Barbara and I went to the Atlanta Symphony show house on Saturday and walked through the beautiful St. Regis Hotel to catch the shuttle bus to the house.  The painting behind the hotel employees reminded me of my sister's property in Florida.  I love how you can snap surreptitious photos with your phone.

- Peonies in the middle of the lobby were supported by pearls.  Lovely.

- The house, "Knollwood", was built in 1929.  The home and gardens were decorated by 29 designers and the proceeds benefit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and their community outreach programs.  Barb and I love to go to the show house every year - it's our thing.  The designer of the room above graciously allowed me to photograph the detail in the bookshelves.  I would love to have my bookshelves built in like that.  The pianist was playing "Moonlight Sonata."

- We were told the house has been sold to "an anonymous young couple" and they can purchase all the inside stuff in they wish.  It was fun seeing how the other half lives.  :)

My father had bookshelves like tbat put into two rooms of our house when I was little. I grew up surrounded by books.

It is kind of nice to always have a camera when you've got your cell phone. Just wish mine had a better camera.

All I could think of looking at those peonies in the bowl was how hard it must be to keep that bowl clean and clear.

Bookshelves are favorites. I could have bookshelves on ever wall in my home.

Now, tell about that statue (?) in the garden please.

"an anonymous young couple..."
Wow, that is one beauty of a home to have. Lynn, was that a couple 'making out' near the painting/print in your first photo?

Nice book shelves, as well; I agree.
lg!

Lynn~ My, Oh, my. It's always something! I hurt my left index finger sewing! I will be laid up 'gimp' for a few days.

Catherine -

I'm glad you like it.

FB -

I have piles of books everywhere - I either need to add more shelves, or give some books away.

Granny Annie -

There are so many things the iPhone can do - I am constantly awed by it. I just downloaded the Kindle app this morning - my friend Karin Slaughter has a novella out today that is only available by download.

I think that foliage covered statue might be a llama. The tour guides had abandoned their posts since it was the end of the day and were having adult beverages under the gift tent. :) So there was no one to ask.

Leonora -

Thank you - I enjoyed it very much. The house is on the same street as the Georgia Governor's Mansion.

No - I think those were two heads bent over some printed material. That might have been the concierge desk actually. It does kind of look like that though. :)

I'm sorry you hurt your finger! Oh my - I hope it doesn't ache too much.

Looks really great. Lucky young couple to have bought that.

Moonlight Sonata is such a great tune to put on repeat and fall asleep to. Such a moody piece.

I love the display with the pearls.

I'm always drawn to the way up-market hotels look. They always seem so classy.

What an amazing place. I think the anonymous young couple must be criminals - who else could afford it.
I cannot sneak photos with my phone because (whispering) it is so old it doesn't have a camera.
I loved the peonies and pearls. I NEED more bookshelves.
Thank you.

Posh hotel n house there! I've noticed the digi-cam can be conspictious!
Interesting flower globe combo- not genuine pearls I bet-
I wonder how people can afford places like that, never mind buyhg all the stuff inside! I always wanted an entire room of walled bookshelves. (Study or Library) I could definately fill them in...

Thanks for coming by!

The Elephant's Child -

They must be criminals. :) In Atlanta, it seems you either have money or you don't.

Snaggle -

I could, too - I am trying not to buy books, but sometimes I just have to.
