Simple pleasures from niece, niece and aunt

Three things today that are simple pleasures - two from nieces who live far apart, one in Portland, Oregon and one in the wilderness of northern Florida.  And one from their aunt in Atlanta...

- A peaceful weekend boating trip on a lake in Florida for a niece and her boyfriend.  Love that sunset.  Photo by ALM.

- This is Skidmore Bluffs, the "place in Portland where high schoolers would make out after the prom in an '80s movie," according to niece's boyfriend.  He was there with another niece and friends.  Photo by RAJ.

- And in front of Bell Street Burritos on Howell Mill Road in Atlanta, the urban cowboy I've blogged about before here, but this time I got a "through the windshield" photograph.  There's a wonderful article I found about he and his horses you can read here.  It was lovely and unexpected to be sitting in traffic and see him come out of the restaurant and mount up.

First photo = Romance
Second photo = Romance
Third photo and story = Romance (because nothing is more romantic than a cowboy.)

Our friend LL Cool Joe will love this post if he doesn't know about this particular DJ cowboy.

I must admit that one thing jumps out at me. What does this Urban cowboy do with his horse poop? Does he carry a large hefty bag with him?

I love the capture of the sunshine in the nieces photos. And who doesn't swoon over a cowboy. We have Amish where we live. They don't have to pick up the poop, so maybe the cowboy doesn't have to do it either. :)

Granny Annie -

Thank you! I like simple pleasures that are romantic the best.

I don't know what he does with the horse poop - it may be that horse poop on streets is OK. Or there's no ordinance for it like there is for canine poop. :)

I like how the sunlight was captured in both of those photos. It's also why I stay on facebook - to keep up with all these kids (two in different parts of Florida, one in Oregon, one in DC and one in Virginia.)

I'll have to read about that Urban Cowboy...after seeing the photo, now I'm curious!

Love our Florida sunsets and the make out spot looks nice, too. Thanks for sharing, amiguita!

Is he riding bareback? I can't see a saddle.

Hilary -

Those kids get so many good photos using their phones - mine never quite come out that good. I think it's called Instagram in the iPhone 4.

I love the first two photographs, especially since they from your family.

The cowboy really got to me. I read the article and it's very touching. I've always loved horses and can understand what the cowboy means when he says a horse is good thing to have with you. I think its great he's teaching children about horses, as well as following his dream:~)

I hope all is well with you, Lynn. It's been awhile since I've visited and I'm glad to be back.

That IS a great shot of him! You just never know when or where he will show up, eh?

I wonder what that movie was? Also called Skidmore Bluffs? Every place has its make-out spot, eh? Ours was beside the dump. JK! JK!!

Beautiful sun pic. Always liked the Oregon t-shirt my Mom got for me decades ago. Would like to visit there someday.

He has a riding academy somewhere - I always wonder why he's around my very busy work locale in Northwest Atlanta.
