Imagine, respectful girl and braving the heat

- My niece Abby is pregnant with her first child - a boy who already has a big name, a bedroom full of nice things and parents who can't wait for him to come.  (Not to mention grandparents and many various other relatives and friends.)  He is already much loved.  She emailed me to ask if I could find the image above that she saw on Pinterest on a poster that she could buy for his room.  (I'm good at Googling and found it in an etsy shop.)  I love the things she wants for her boy and hope he does all those things.  I put my favorite in the title, but sleep soundly is a great one, too.

- Friend Janice and her visiting niece Mary come to have lunch with me at the Korean taco place.  (Avocado tempura tacos - yum!)  I ask Mary if she is in college, thinking it's better to guess older than younger if I don't know.  She blushes, "Oh no ma'am, I'll be in the tenth grade."

- Walking in the park after work in sizzling heat - only me and a lone young lady running are there.  We nod at each other in acknowledgment of our bravery.  :)  Probably skipping that today, but I like that I got through it with no incident.

So I hope you live your dreams this weekend, my friends.  Have a great one.

Spend hours under a tree with your imaginary friends:)

The tables turn as we get older and want folks to start guessing younger.

How do you make yourself do that in this heat? You've got to have some strong dedication. Of course you do...I know that:)

Avocado tempura tacos sound EXACTLY like what I want. Right. Now.

I have to brave the heat for a 10 mile run tomorrow morning...oy. Good for you for getting out there!

What a wonderful thing that is! ALL such good advice--for anyone! But especially to have that on the wall of one's bedroom while growing up---That Is Perfection!

I don't know how you braved the extreme heat...! Brave. That is exactly what you are, my dear---Very Very Brave!

Augh, I definitely would have wilted. That's so cute about the high school student - and I remember being very flattered when people thought I was older. I don't think I'd feel like that now ;)

Yes, on the sleeping soundly, that one I aim for each night.

Now that I'm older I always guess 5 to 10 years younger of anyone I think is 38 or older! And hopefully people who don't know my age will do so for me too. :) :)

THAT wall poster is SUCH an inspiring one. Since I'm getting close to choosing accents for Kelly's bedroom remodel, that would be perfect. Be nice for any room in a house, actually.

I'm gonna be a great-auntie soon too, any day actually -- on my husband's side, oy. Is this your first time at that title too?

xoxo

Granny Annie -

Exactly - a lovely thought.

So true! Now I'm always pleased when people think I'm 10 years younger than I am.

I didn't go today - and next week it's supposed to be back to the low 90s. Let's hope anyway.

Joanne -

They are SO good. I'll be thinking about you - good for you for doing that.

OldLady of the Hills -

I love it, too. Abby is nesting a bit - John Monroe is due September 2. He's a special boy already.

Maybe I'm a little brave, or a little crazy. :)

Thank you -

Yes - it turns just the opposite later. :)

Jannie -

A diplomat, you are. And you can get that poster from an etsy shop - it was coming from Australia, of all things, but the shipping didn't seem bad. She'll have framed for his room.

Congrats on being a Great Aunt - I already am Great Aunt Lynn to Mina, niece Carla's wee one.

When I lived in San Antonio for six years in my 20s, I picked up the habit of calling people "ma'am" and "sir". (I also picked up "y'all") When I came back to Michigan, people kept yelling at me to stop calling them Ma'am and Sir, cos here people think it's reserved for old people and big shots. But, alas, my Inner Southerner lives. I still use all three (ma'am, sir and y'all) to this day.

I was raised to say ma'am and sir and still do it - it just depends on who it is. Some people down here would have told her not to say "ma'am" to them, but I understand it. I think it's neat that you do that.

Tempura Tacos with Avocado? Ah my husband will be sure to suggest this to the Japanese place in Poughkeepsie Galleria. We pay a dollar and fifty cent in toll and use may be an entire Saturday so we can go there for their vegetable and or chicken Tempuras.

Hi Lynn! What are your temps in Atlanta? Even the High Country is over 85 degrees. It just isn't fun to do anything when the sun comes up or before 6:30-ish PM when the sun starts going down! Sitting by the fan...

For your niece's sake, I hope he sleeps soundly!

Ha ha Mama Zen's comment cracked me up. My 17 year old daughter arrived back home this morning at 2.00am with 10 other 17 year olds. Sleeping soundly is a thing of the past.

Hope you are having a wonderful weekend. :)

Munir -

They are wonderfully good. :) I hope your place makes them for you.

It's been in the high 90s the last couple of days, but last weekend and most of the week, it was in the 100s. I dream of temps in the 80s. Come on September!

Mama Zen -

I hope that for you, too. :)

Joe -

Yes - seems as if sleep isn't that important when you are that age. :)

neat poster. I like that the "imagine" is the large type- I hope Abby has a non-complicated birth n wish her much happiness as a Mom. Sounds like a good lunch visit. Can't believe you walked in the heat. Glad you made it!
Hope the week-end is going well

Hey Lynn...I just read that our girl Emmylou is a baseball fan and loves the Atlanta Braves! That gal just keeps getting better. ;-)

Snaggle -

I hope that for her, too. It seems like just yesterday that I held her as a newborn. How time flies! She has turned into a delightful young woman.

Sage -

Hot up there, too - I hear.

That's neat that Emmylou loves the Braves!
