The weekend in pictures: two books, picnic and moonflower

- This might have been my favorite part of the weekend - finishing these two books on my comfy bedroom chair.  "Criminal" by Atlanta writer Karin Slaughter and "The Paris Wife" by Paula McClain.  There was a beautiful summer rain on Saturday afternoon, which made the reading experience all the better.

- A "welcome back" from summer activities in the form of a church picnic in a nearby park.  I like how the red Solo cups line up there.  :)

- And a Moonflower in a friend's garden, taken just after the sun set.  That's the only time it opens.  Gorgeous.

Hi Lynn - sounds like a good weekend with reading accomplished and that moonflower is gorgeous looking - I think they have a wonderful scent? Or perhaps I'm thinking of another flower!

What a great welcome back and picnic .. cheers Hilary

How wonderful - on all three fronts.

I'm jealous of that comfy reading chair. It looks like the ultimate spot to get lost in a book.
The line of red cups managed to work out perfectly!

Your reading corner looks very relaxing.

The church group pic would make a good advertisement for Solo.

Guess I've never stayed up late enough to see a moonflower. Lovely.

So, THAT's a moonflower, lovely! Neat how they only bloom at that time.

Ahhhh, rain and some good reads -- wonderful stuff.

I like your bedroom chair, fun to see bits of your domicile meted out for our curious eyes. :)

Happy day!

Hilary -

I love reading so much. And moonflowers smell a bit like an Easter Lily, but not as perfumey. :)

Cheers back!

The Elephant's Child -

Thank you!

Leonora -

I got that chair more than 20 years ago - it's a good place to sink in with a book.

It makes me think of that red Solo cup song. :)

Granny Annie -

It is very relaxing - when I had cats, they kind of took it over. So now that I'm petless, I've kind of rediscovered it.

Dana -

Pretty wonderful!

Jannie -

It's funny how the walls look pink in that photo. It's kind of a beigey pink, but looks more beige than pink. :)

Well - most of us aren't as young as that couple in front, but we are young at heart.

Scarlet -

It was a nice weekend - and went by like lightning!

Riot Kitty -

It's called a Tulip Chair. It was affordable at the time and remains comfy. :)

Madeleine -

The Karin Slaughter books are a series. She's also a friend from when I worked my corporate job. Yes - her book was awesome. As for The Paris Wife - I loved that glimpse into the lives of Ernest and Hadley Hemingway.

What an awesome flower! So beautiful! Glad that you caught that. My husband is diligently trying to photograph another elusive beauty~~a hummingbird that comes daily to his feeder. The dang thing so far eludes the camera regularly, even using the feeder on the side he cannot photograph!

What a great table pic with the happy faces n red cups! They do look happy to see you. Good to know you're missed...
I've never seen a Moonflower besides your pic. Evening Primroses next to beaches here are on a similar schedule tho-
