Celebrate the season, the day and the rain

- Receiving this card this week from a woman I know from church, but bonded with during a caregivers' seminar about five years ago.  A tree has been planted in my honor from the National Arbor Day foundation. We each lost both parents since the seminar and I am tremendously touched by this gesture.  Her message inside reads:  "Hope your holidays were enjoyable.  Not always easy with missing parents."  I love that it came after the holidays.

- The oddly warm weather that gave Atlanta a 70 degree day yesterday and having a celebratory iced tea in the afternoon to celebrate.  :)

- Opening the front door this morning to water the outdoor plants and finding a light rain falling.  And standing in the doorway listening to the quiet rain without shivering.

I am looking forward to the weekend and hope you are, too.  May it be filled with unexpected delights!

What a dear friend you found in the woman from the church. Just shows we never know where and when friendships will sprout,

We are having the strangest Winter. Hope it isn't going to suddenly change and turn into lots of snow and ice like we usually have.

My unexpected delight for the weekend will be if my housekeeper gets well and can come clean our house. Is that a selfish wish. First of all I hope she gets well. Oh dear,"it's always about you" my daughter says.

How strange this balmy weather is! I complain less about it, the older I get. But it doesn't feel like winter at all!
Kind gestures out of the blue, like the card, will brighten any day!

What a nice idea sending a card after Christmas because this time of the year can feel like a real anti-climax.

I'm just hoping to feel 100% okay this weekend rather than 85%.

It's raining here as well, only it's mid-January in Minneapolis...

That is just plain wrong.

Great, so it's not too late to send you a card! But don't hold your breath on that. :)

What a wonderful gift of empathy and hospitality this woman has. This is what I would like to be able to do, but always remember too late and feel I've missed the opportunity. I love the balmy winter we're having, too. :)

That is sweet - the holidays can be particularly tough when you are missing loved ones.

It's supposed to snow this weekend.

Yesterday it was even warm in Toronto. My husband had to prop the front door open for around ten minutes in order to load a bunch of stuff into his car. I snuggled on the couch under a blanket and loved every minute of fresh air. It's a nice break from being shut in with furnace air all the time.

What a lovely, lovely gesture. On Mothers' and Fathers' Days here we are invited to plant trees to remember our parents. Something I really must do.
Rain. Such bliss. Have a wonderful weekend.

I still have cards to send late too- in my family alot of us are late! We don't mind either! Lynn has a baby tree!
I was elated about our 47F! We had some rain tonight here- At least it wasn't snow again- Yay!
Have a better week-end than I will working, n working more at home!

Sweet gesture and sentiment from the woman from church. There are good people out there that God puts in our lives at just the right time. I believe that.

Love the sound of rain when I'm home, and even when I'm out somewhere (as long as I'm not getting wet). I do love thunderstorms as well, maybe because we rarely get many of them here in the sunshine state. :)

Hi Lynn - what a lovely thought. Funny how people pop up in one's life .. I met a friend via the Nursing Centre where my mother, and her father ... we regularly see each other ..

Co-incidences happen - as they have to me this past week ..

How wonderful you can go to the Arboretum and look towards the sky through your tree ... bringing remembrances back ..

Cheers Hilary

Granny Annie -

So true - and it makes me want to be more thoughtful, too.

I know - it was in higher into the 70s yesterday - I had the windows open at home.

I hope your housekeeper gets well, too, and I'll bet she would love to get back to normal and clean your house.

Leonora -

It's balmy, for sure. And my day was truly brightened.

Joe -

I know - she was thinking outside the box, as we say. I'm a little late to the party answering comments - so I hope you are 100% OK today.

Pearl -

Wrong, indeed. :) Good to see you here.

Jannie -

OK - I'll stop holding my breath. :)

My mother died last February, so although it seems late in my case, it came at a perfect time.

Riot Kitty -

What is going on with this weather?

Sparkling Red -

That's awesome - I'll bet the house felt fresh all day.

lg -

Thank you, my friend.

The Elephant's Child -

That's a great idea they have there.

I'm glad you have great weather in the midst of all that working! Hope your weekend is good despite that.

Ily -

I believe that, too. And I love looking at rain more than I like being out in it, too. :)

Hilary -

I'm facebook friends with my mother's ALF and love scouring the photos for familiar faces.

Shionge -

Thank you - I think so, too.

Thanks, G.
