Greenway, ladybugs who garden and special gift

- This park, where I walk on weekend mornings with friends, is not looking all that green right now, but soon enough, it will.

- Since it is a new park, the plantings are still young and somewhat sparse.  The "Ladybugs Garden Club" plants and maintains the garden areas and can be seen sometimes traveling from area to area on a golf cart.  They always leave behind one of these rocks painted to look like a ladybug.

- I think it's so lovely that camellias bloom in the winter here.  A little winter gift.  Those are train tracks beyond there - sometimes the train whistle is deafening and we have to pause the chatter for a few moments.

- Laura found the painted ladybug rocks in a nearby shop and got us one for Christmas.  Mine is in an indoor plant, but will find its way outdoors in the spring.

Wonderful place to walk. I don't have to go outside to see ladybugs. They often congregate in my hone!

I think it's great that you have a place to walk. I need to start some exercise and I think walking would be great. I love camellias in the winter. :)

These greenway trails are popping up in cities everywhere. Roanoke has one that follows old railroad tracks for miles. It's a great way to make something new out of something old and people flock to them.
You'll be able to watch the new plantings fill out and become more beautiful as time goes by.

Granny Annie -

We always have them in our church sanctuary, too. Wonder why?

Joe -

I love them, too.

It's fun walking with Laura and Janice - we have become close friends from walking on the weekends and catching up on each others' lives.

Leonora -

This one does follow the train tracks - it's very busy and seems to go on forever.

I look forward to seeing the plantings fill out. I love it when we encounter the smiling ladybug gardeners.

We walk fast, so not much relaxing. The ladybug rocks are cool!

I love ladybugs. In Switzerland, they are considered good luck - my friends lived there for a couple of years and sent me a stuffed on for my birthday while they were there. I still have it :)

All the trails here are brown with an icy top from sleet last night- We're expecting a 50F day tomorrow tho- hope I don't sleep thru the whole thing...
Cool club to belong to. Like the rock calling card idea! I remember a "Pet Rock" thing we used to do.
that looks like the Geranium giving a home to your LadyBug rock-
Actually I have 3 African violets n the Xmas Cacti blooming in here- nice to get inspiration from plants in the middle of winter! The Camellias are beautiful-

Love that ladybug poem! You could turn that into a song, I think.

I think it's the Norfolk Southern line. It sure has a ear shattering whistle. :)

Riot Kitty -

Ah - that's neat.

Joanne -

I'll bet!

I'm glad the weather is warming up for everyone - I was too warm under my down comforter last night.

I had forgotten about pet rocks. :)

I like winter gardens. It's so nice to know that brown sticks will turn into bright green buds shortly.

We have a park that is absolutely lovely in the winter because of the camellias. It's kind of famous for them.

The family who lived there planted tons of them and you walk down a brick path with giant camellia plants of different colors.

It also the most beautiful oak trees. You reminded of this park with your picture walk.

I mentioned the camellia garden in Tallahassee to my sister when she was here and told her I want to see it.
