Operation S.M.I.L.E., caterpillar or snake and cuppa joe

Some random good things from this week...

- Getting in the middle of a 5k run to support S.M.I.L.E. House, which is near the The Greenway Trail, where I walk with friends.  The woman standing next to the smile sign was calling out our time to us.  :)  The house provides a supported independent living for developmentally delayed adults in their homes, as an alternative to facility or group homes.  Many of those adults were running in this race and it was joyous to see the joy they felt in participating in this run.

- These pots arranged to look like a caterpillar (or maybe a snake) in this garden area.

 - I knew I needed to get to work after my dentist appointment, but it sure felt good to have this cuppa joe with me after I got there.  Maybe that will be a new tradition - a latte after the teeth cleaning.  :)

And I'm loving that it is Friday.  I just watered the outdoor plants and it feels fresh and cool this morning.  I'm reminded of the Pam's final line of the final episode of The Office, that aired last night, "There's a lot of beauty in ordinary things.  Isn't that kind of the point?"   I hope you have a lovely, lovely day and weekend!

Happy Friday. Yesterday, there was a segment on NPR about a greenway trail in Atlanta where old railroad yards were at--it cost 60 million to clean up the brownfield, but today is well used.

The writers of the Office must have been reading your blog, Lynn!

I love that snake - that's the kind I can live with! My empty pots always look like leaning towers of Pisa! :)

Have a beautiful weekend, Lynn!

I tried to look that up, but can't find it. I wonder if they are talking about the Atlanta Beltline trails. I walk at one of those trails after work during the week. I love that Greenway park in Lilburn on the weekends.

Maybe you could make a snake like that. :) Happy weekend to you, too.

I love the idea of using a latte as a reward for doing something good for yourself!

Running and smiling...that's hard to do. But probably easier when it is for a good cause.

I don't have any plants but I do have a lot of pots. Maybe I could make a snake.

Lots of beauty in ordinary things...that's why I get such a thrill out of fairy eggs. Hope your weekend is fantastic.

Here's something else I think you'll like - your name written on your coffee cup reminded me. I recently watched an episode of "Animals at Work" that showed a giraffe called Lynn. A group of schoolchildren had been bussed in to meet her. They gathered in the feeding area and then all called out to her together "Lyyyyyynn! Lyyyyyynn!" I couldn't find that exact clip on YouTube, but here's another one. You'll see Lynn the giraffe near the end.

That is such a great thing we see at our walk too - people having FUN and feeling empowered. That must have been neat to witness :)

I want my name on my coffee!

Do you like having your name on your cup? I've read different opinions on this, some people love it, some don't.

Hope you are having a lovely weekend Lynn!

Yes - that might just be a new tradition.

OldLady of the Hills -

I think so, too, and hope you have a good weekend!

Granny Annie -

Fairy Eggs - I'll have to look that up. Yes - I loved that last line ever of The Office. So true.

Sandie -

I had another latte today - so good.

Thanks for sharing that - I love that they named a giraffe Lynn. :)

Riot Kitty -

Absolutely - it was awesome.

The Elephant's Child -

Thank you, my friend.

FB -

I'm thinking most Starbucks do that.

Joe -

Lovely so far! No - I don't mind having my name on my cup. When it's really crowded, as it was that day, it helps them keep track, I think.

Sounds like a great cause, n good folks being able to contribute. I like those caterpillars better than the ones that eat my plants which I expect about the first week of June here. Just seeing the coffee makes me wake up. I used to stop at every chance before I went back to tea- I know exactly what you mean tho!
Hope your week-end was pleasant.

Thank you - it's Monday now, but that's OK, too. :)

I like to think what caterpillars turn into. Hope you had a good weekend!
