- Making my bed, which makes me think of my mother every time. She always said, "It just feels better to get in it at bedtime when the bed is smoothly made." She's right and I think about that every time I make it.
- Helping my sister get out of a sticky situation by giving her three things she could say: one very direct, one extremely direct and one that skirts the issue by giving another alternative. I am flattered to be asked for help. :)
I hope you have a good weekend! I'm so happy it's here!

If I had pansies at my front door today they would be snow covered:)
My mother raised me to make my bed the first thing in the morning assuring me the day would go better if I did. Ron's mother raised him not to make the bed or they would have bed bugs and only made the bed if company was coming. Yikes, did we battle on that one.
Sounds like you are a wise counselor to give alternate solutions.
It's nice to have a sister for things like that.
And if you find some sun send it north!!!

I'm a stickler for making the bed!
Immediately I make the bed (after showering and getting dressed for the day), I feel like I've got a handle on whatever might come during the day. :)
Hope you have a beautiful weekend, Lynn!
Love those pansies - and feel free to send your rain this way. We need it.
I am curious. Which alternative did your sister choose?
Yes, on the bed front. And, if the clean sheets fairy was someone other than me, I would like clean sheets every day.
What is very direct versus extremely direct? Inquiring minds want to know!
I would not be able to tell that it is a plastic pot. The Pansies look very pretty indeed. Enjoy!
I hope that all is well and I hope that you have a good weekend.
Blue pansies are my favourites! I always think of my mother showing me how to make a bed with blankets and sheets every time I have to do it - I find it almost impossible to do it badly. At home I use duvets now, and I'm not so particular about those, just pull 'em up!
Hi Lynn - those pansies look wonderful - love their little faces. How grand that you could help your sister out - and hope that helps her sort it out ..
Sun - when it comes out is just wonderful .. cheers Hilary
dear lynn, your pansies look beautiful! i love clean sheets, but i hate having to make the bed...go figure!
hope you're having a good weekend!
big hugs!
Lovely bowl of flowers, my dear.
I never make my bed...I know that is probably terrible, but....personally, I find it feels just fine to me. Maybe it's because I hardly move when in my bed, so it'snot very messed up at all.
I agree with your mother. My motto is "A smooth bed for a smooth sleep."
I agree with your mom!
Granny Annie -
I think your mother was right - I always feel better leaving the house with things a little tidier.
Sandie -
I think I remember the sun - this is the 8th day in a row it has rained.
Mama Zen -
Me, too (most of the time.)
Talon -
It was beautiful!
Elephant's Child -
Her neighbor in the mountains where her vacation home is, asked if she could use her house for her daughter's significant other's mother, who "requires a bedroom with a bathroom that would not be shared." The woman wants to visit over Christmas - mind you, these people have a large home, but I guess not large enough for this woman's needs. We don't care for the neighbor (has said some not very nice things, so I'm done with her.) Jo only lets very close friends and family stay there anyway, so I told her that's all she had to say. (Very direct.) Extremely direct would have been: "Sorry, but no, that won't be possible." No explanation necessary. Skirting the issue would be offering up nearby hotel alternatives. She went with very direct and told her that she only lets very close friends and family use the house. :)
Riot Kitty -
See answer to EC. :)
Munir -
Really? Good - I feel better about it now. :)
Jenny -
Same here - the duvet (with no top sheet for me) makes it easy.
Hilary -
I know - I look forward to that. :)
Betty -
I niece is the office manager for a plantation that wealthy people own and someone changes their sheets every day. Imagine. I love clean sheets, but can't imagine that.
Big hugs to you!
Naomi -
I think whatever feels good to you is the way to go. I just hear my mother's voice in my head every time I think about not making it. :)
Sparkling Red -
A good motto!
Sage -
Me, too. :)
Which option did your sister take?
I always make all the beds in our house, every day, and I sleep terribly, so maybe I shouldn't bother!
Pansies are such beautiful little flowers.
