- Pete the cat, looking around warily to make sure great nephew Monroe, a busy toddler, wasn't on the way.
- Beautiful downtown Thomasville, Georgia on "Black Friday." I loved the subtle ornaments hung in the trees. Click to enlarge.
- These little library boxes were in front of several businesses. You may take a book or leave a book (or both.) So nice. This one was in front of Sweet Grass Dairy, who invited all to come in and "Recharge with CHEESE!" on Small Business Saturday.* We did. :) A lovely holiday.

What a wonderful initiative. We could do with one hear. Loved the tree ornaments and the watchful moggy. And, of course, the book boxes.
Have a great week.
The little library is sweet! That's the best thing about paper books - they have their own adventures above and beyond whatever is written inside them. Electronic readers, handy though they are, do not compare.
Sadly I did not know that Saturday was Small Business Saturday and spent the day at Michaels, Joanne's and Hobby Lobby searching for yarn to learn how to knit with. Not to worry though, I'm sure there were many people shopping on Main Street in Woodstock. It seems like there never is a time when it's not busy there.
I LOVE that book exchange / borrow idea!!
Cyber Monday seems to have brought me a few eBay customers today, after a quiet Small Biz. Sat.
And the way you captured that second photo is magic! beautiful subject, tree and lighting. Oh and the cat one is precious too! Kelly was already 5 by the time we got our first kitty, so he was spared those toddler pulls and pushes.
Glad you are back safe and sound and had a nice holiday. xoxo
Augh! I would totally love to recharge with cheese...
Pete is wise. I remember the first time we introduced my little sister to a cat, she yanked out a fistful of its hair.
The ornaments are so subtle and lovely. And the library box is really cool.
You can't blame a cat for being cautious. :)
What a lovely idea that book exchange is---and I LOVE the idea of re-charging with cheese and honoring small businesses by supporting as many as possible. You live in such a very lovely area....!
Cats learn early on which humans to be leery of, whether they are toddlers, teens or adults.
I love the random ornaments. It is funny because there is a strange little tree growing in my old goat pen and I am so tempted to go out and hang some bulbs on it. Now I might so it won't be lonely.
I did not get to our little stores in the nearby resort town this weekend but I do plan to go there and I know what purchases I will make. The owners are wonderful and it is worth paying a little extra to have a moments chat with them.
Careful, Pete!
Elephant's Child -
I like that book box, too. And I love the world "moggy"!

So true - I do love a paper book still.

That's OK - next year maybe. My sister and her husband have a small business, so she mentioned it. That's how I knew it.
Jannie -
Thank you - I am home, safe and sound. And I was waiting for others to come out of a shop and snapped that second photo. I love T'ville.
oxoxo
Riot Kitty -
That's right - you can't have cheese. So sorry.
Pete has also learned the value of getting under the dining table in between chairs. :)
Talon -
Aren't they? I wonder if they light up at night.
Naomi -
It's where my sister lives, but I do love to visit.
Granny Annie -
I hope you do go hang ornaments on that little lonely tree! I love the thought of that and you chatting at shops.

Seriously. :)
Smart Pete- watching out for the toddler- n locked out from the tree again no doubt. I like decorating the yard trees. The squirrels like to chew on my stuff tho-
Some nice guy put old Sci-Fi titles in the Bring a book, Take a book stand at the Post Office this summer.
Small businesses here in the UK are really struggling right now, so I think the "Small Business Saturday" is such a great idea.
Smart cat! As soon as "strangers" arrive here, my two head for under the bed. That's their place of sanctuary.
Hi Lynn - love the small business concept - excellent idea. While the books - what fun .. we have exchanges here .. but these little book houses are fun to look at.
The ornaments in the tree must be so cheering ... while Pete is definitely sensible to be aware of young toddler!
Cheers Hilary
