Settling in, identification and from far away

Photo from Wikipedia

- That is the Wacissa River in Jefferson County, Florida, where my sister and her family live.  It was wonderful to arrive on Christmas Eve and just settle in with the family in this beautiful place.

- Young Monroe knows who everyone is, when asked to point to each relative.  And it thrills my soul when he is asked where Aunt Lynn is and he points to me, since I don't get to be with him that often.

- Wee Mina, in Turkey, got to have "'Twas the Night Before Christmas" read to her by her Grandpa, via Skype.  A family tradition - he always reads it on Christmas Eve.  I think Mina's mom wanted to hear it, too.

I'm heading home tomorrow - it will be good to catch up on blogs.  I've only had sporadic computer time - probably a good thing to not be glued to the computer.  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend, so far!

What a serene and beautiful spot. I am thrilled that your family time was so wonderful. And of course Monroe knows who you are. He is a smart cookie.
Travel home safely.

What a beautiful vision, Lynn. It reminded me of the wonderful book..."Cross Creek" - written by Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings - an autobiographical account of her life in the Florida wilderness. It's a book worth reading.

Rawlings wrote "The Yearling".

The movie "Cross Creek" starring Mary Steenburgen and Peter Coyote was made in 1983...and it still remains a favourite movie of mine.

I'm glad you had a lovely Christmas with your loved ones, Lynn. May 2014 treat you kindly.

I LOVE Cross Creek. And reread it most years. So I am added my voice to Lee's here. It is definitely worth reading.

Lynn, Sorry that I missed your post on my blog back in October! For some odd reason, Blogspot is accepting my photos again! I am pleased. If you could re-route to me back there, I will do what I must to 'resurrect' the blog!

I have gotten so far behind on my reading and commenting. Of course Monroe knows his Aunt Lynn. Children know who loves them. Skype is so wonderful. I just wish I had a good connection out here in the country. Things have been going very well here.
