- That's neighbor Rhonda's hand there in the picture. I was saying to her that of all the plants we've had on our communal front porch, I think this one has been the prettiest and most lush looking. She says she grew it from seeds! I think she's got the touch.
- A young lady, 12-years-old, and wise beyond her years, tells me she likes my kitchen. I point out things in it I love - mostly heirlooms, like my grandmother's fruit plates. She says she likes my spice rack the most. I tell her the year I bought it, at House of Denmark, and her eyes widen. :)
- It's the first day of autumn! My favorite season. Love the little animated First Day of Autumn illustration on Google this morning, especially the last part. There's an article about it here.

I wonder what the 12 year old loved so much about the spice rack?
I'm really not ready for autumn ... all those leaves...sigh.
Hi Lynn - yes the spice rack .. maybe she loves the colours of the spices and thoughts of different tastes ... and anyone older than 12 is mighty ancient?! oh those days ...
How great to have a green fingered neighbour!
Glad it's a British explanation of the Equinox!!
Cheers
That is a lush-looking plant! I love it. Autumn is definitely the best time of the year. I try to savor every minute of it.
What kind of plant is that?
Autumn is indeed beautiful. And refreshing. Love it. And your neighbours plant. And her green thumb.
Lucky young lady to appreciate the real treasures in her world despite the multiple distractions and attractions at her life stage. She shall be richer for the time spent with you.

This is such a sweet post...a lovely post. :)
You have found such lovely treasures!
I had that same thought about the Google logo! I played with it for a minute : )

It's in a style called Danish Modern and a vintage piece - Digsmed. I think she just has excellent taste! :)
I love fall - the crispness in the air, the promise of fires in the fireplace. All that.

I know - those days. :) I should have blogged about her younger sister, too. I admired the 10-year-old's dress and she said her grandmother in Live Oak, Florida gave it to her. She went on to describe how trees drape over the driveway to her home. Lovely. Cheers to you!
Stephanie -
I like to savor it, too. Thanks for coming by!
Mama Zen -
I don't know - a mix of different plants - some flowering. I'll ask her if she knows.
Elephant's Child -
I'm the lucky one who gets to enjoy all of her planting. I contribute some, but don't have a special touch.
I think autumn will sort of glide into Connecticut this year.

I hope so - that is a lovely thought. Her parents are in my rotating dinner group, so I invited she and her sister, too.

Thank you!

That's what it's all about, I think.

Wasn't that neat? I loved it.

Autumn gliding in - a lovely thought.
We had our first chilly morning last this last week!!! I think for those in the South, autumn comes a relief:~)
I loved the spice rack story, but most of all how you've surrounded yourself with special things to evoke good memories.
Green thumbed people make me turn green with envy. I've killed more plants than I can count. I try not to, but I'm a plant whisperer. It's not a gift I possess, but one I admire greatly:~) Hally day to you!
...Maybe we can see a photo of that spice rack sometime! Hope you are well, Lynn!
Pretty plant from seeds- Lots of daily attention is the trick, I think. My seed stuff are doing well, except no squash got me free veggies. Oh well, will keep trying.
The little girl will try to find one like it, I bet. I don't have one, (out of space) n spices are all over the place here!
Love little animations. Hope I get hi-speed sometime so I can see my old ones again. I have some software as part of Paint Sop Pro.
