Survivors, leafing out and at it again

- I titled this photo "Survivors" - since these outdoor plants weathered the winter temps this year.  I managed to get them inside every time the temps dipped below 32 degrees f.  And the begonia never stopped blooming.

- Last evening, as I drove toward the condos, the street I live on looked glorious in the late afternoon sunshine - trees blooming, trees leafing out.  This is the view from the side of my back porch - nothing remarkable, except it's just so wonderful to see the green, after all the drabness.

- The "ladybug garden club" that maintains the plantings in the weekend walking park have been at it again.  Loved the neckerchief on the stone turtle.  Click to enlarge.

I wish that Spring could dig in its heels. We are teased by sunshine and blooming daffodils only to have to turn our heat back on then off then on. You are to be applauded for saving your plants through all this.

I love the ladybug clubs whimsy. And your view. I do hope that your spring (and our autumn) stop flirting with us, come in and settle down.

Flirting is the right word. Teasing? Playing chase? I love the turtle.

We also have potted plants that survive the winter in our garage but sometimes we forget a pot or two and we have had begonias in pots that have survived the cold winter!
I was at Stone Mountain on Sunday, you could have been there along with the tons of other people too!

I love the turtle. :) I used to have a lot of potted plants, but these days I only have a couple out the front area of my cabin. This property has a lot of trees and other vegetation on it, so I do with that. Only last night I was thinking just how popular indoor plants were back in the 70s and 80s...to have them was a real craze back then and the thing to do...I went along with the fashion. :)

Hi Lynn - I'm always amazed at how plants survive and restart ... and yes the trees are greening - slowly ... our mild winter started them off, but it's been a wee bit cold recently and they seem to be on hold - the daffodils are up, the bluebells are there ... as too the snowdrops ...

Wonderful .. but I must not wish this time away as the autumn will come around too quickly - cheers Hilary

The only plants I have now are a couple of indoor bamboo shoots, which are doing very well. Our flowers did very well wintering indoors. Hope the good weather continues so they can enjoy the sunshine outdoors now.

I'm so happy seeing your survivor plants! They must be relieved that it's warming up outside.
