Ethereal, yum and once-in-a-while treat

 - These vegetables from my Blue Apron box were so pretty that I snapped a photo of them.  The ones on the upper right are Fairy Tale eggplants.  Love that ethereal name!  They were among the vegetables included in the Summer Vegetable & Queso Tostadas.  Each box contains three recipes and the ingredients you need to make them.  Each recipe serves two.

- I made the tostadas while at the mountain cabin, but didn't take a photo.  I know - that's not like me.  They were yummy.

- And I love how they give you step by step instructions on making everything.  I'm a good cook, but love this once-in-a-while treat.  They only ship to the contiguous United States, but I expect there are other companies elsewhere that do this kind of thing.  It probably sounds like I am advertising for them, but this just seemed like good blog material.  :)

Yummo.
And I suspect all cooks need to step out of our comfort zone once in a while. I know I do.

I've not heard of the Blue Apron Box.

These days I try not to step out beyond my comfort zone...I'm comfortable here where I am! :)

Hi Lynn - I love seeing articles about food - though I don't look for them ... and in the old days I'd keep recipes and use them in time - now I don't ... but then have to scratch if I need to make something. I also love cooking ... this looks like a great way to try new things and have fresh ingredients ... I must get to our farm shop and get some stocks ... so I can make a few freezer items for the winter months ...

Cheers Hilary

My sister gets the Blue Apron Box but I receive orders from Schwan's. My foods are oven and/or microwave ready while her foods have to be prepared. Guess who is the lazy sister? LOL

I just bookmarked the Blue Apron page because it sounds like a really cool idea and I plan to share it with my daughter, who's into healthier eating and we all love new recipes! Thanks for sharing. The pics are great, too.

What?! Purple and silver vegetables!
I've been getting Blue Apron promotional coupons in the mail. My niece in DC (who is a full time working girl) uses their service a lot.

A couple of friends have told me they tried Blue Apron and while they enjoyed the meals, they found them costly in the long run. However, I admit to being curious to give them a try sometime in the future. Would you recommend them?

I've never eaten eggplants. I think you can tell I don't know much about food or cooking! :D
