Meatloaf 'n football, unresolved and fun pasta facts

- In a Google search for Mr C's Bar & Grill near my office (looking for anyone who has actually had the meatloaf), this hilarious comment from patron Matthew C: "I used to be scared of this place. It reminds me of the bar where The Blues Brothers played "Rawhide" behind a fence."

- And this article entitled "The Humble Meatloaf as Haute Cuisine" by columnist Les Eatwell from likethedew.com. Eatwell has "unresolved meatloaf issues" from childhood. He didn't like it then, but has been lured to the other side. Who knew an internet search would foster so much meatloaf material? :)

- The Publix Wine Guide this month has a section called "Fine Form" giving the translation of pasta names:
Farfalle ("Butterflies" or "Bow Ties"), Fusilli ("Little Spindles"), Capellini ("Fine Hair"), Vermicelli ("Little Worms"), Spaghetti ("Little Strings"), Linguine ("Little Tongues"), Fettuccine ("Little Ribbons"), Lasagna ("Cooking Pot"), Cannelloni ("Large Reeds"), Ziti ("Bridegrooms"), and Penne ("Quill Pen"). Bridegrooms?

I don't know about meatloaf as Haute Cuisine, but it's definitely a family favorite at my house. Especially leftover meatloaf sandwiches.

I love the pasta names. I grew up in an Italian neighborhood and loved watching pasta being made and take shape (pun intended). Ziti is a tubular pasta that comes in 18" tubes and is broken into smaller pieces for cooking...so not a far stretch as to how it got it's name...or is it? lol!

Now I'm curious when you'll be brave enough to check out Mr. C's, Lynn, and write a review though it sounds from the reviews that meatloaf is NOT the main attraction. lol!

I'm not sure I've ever eaten meatloaf but I'd love to try it.

I'm a big fan of pasta. I eat it everyday. I never realised just how great it was until I ate it in Italy and then realised what real pasta tastes like!

I make pretty good meatloaf myself. Love a meatloaf sandwich, too! I'm probably better off going during the day to Mr C's.

OK - when you put it like that - I get the ziti comparison. :)

Mama Zen -

Come on down to Atlanta and we'll go!

Riot Kitty -

Mr C's always has meatloaf on Mondays and it is the only special that gets jokey treatment on the sign.

Joe -

Meatloaf. Ground meat, onion, spices, raw egg and bread crumbs to bind it together. Mixed well and molded into a loaf shape, baked and topped with tomato ketchup. Yum Yum!

Don't you just LOVE those pasta names? Or maybe not for little worms and tongues, you and Snag can have those!

Still lovin' meatloaf here and I bet I always will.
