New home, legends and looking forward

- A new home in a familiar city, they are back in the city of her birth, their marriage and the city in which two daughters were born. This is the view to the right on the road leading to it, a gazebo just visible. An appropriate view for a woman who has always loved gazebos.*

- The city is Macon, Georgia, home of music legends Otis Redding, The Allman Brothers Band, Lena Horne and Little Richard. The Allman Brothers Band museum is just down the street.

- He looks out at the view from their bedroom windows and says how beautiful the Bradford Pear trees will be in the spring...

* A Friday 55...

That looks a marvellous place - and how could it not be with such a musical heritage.

Macon must be a special place to inspire such musical legends.

I've always loved gazebos too. Someday, it would be fun to have one on my property. Maybe one in a pond or something. :-)

Thanks for your happy posts, Lynn. Have a great weekend!

Ooh my soul, Little Richard rocks!

I thought your first commenter was called "Long Tall Sally" at first glance. How appropriate!

"Good Golly Miss Molly" I need to pick up "Lucille" from school. I hope she's not in trouble again, but you know what they say..."The Girl Can't Help It"! Maybe we'll get some "Tutti Frutti" ice cream on the way home. ;)

Welcome Tall Kay!

That was my very first 55. It is nice to meet you, too! I like your very courageous blog.

Welcome Anthony!

Macon is a lovely place and the people are SO nice. Fast food workers, wait staff in restaurants, shop people, all nice. You have a great blog - I look forward to going back and reading more in depth - ie. when I'm not at work. :)

Jewel -

There are so many more musicians than I even listed. It is special. I hope you have a great weekend, too! Cheers!

Joe -

You made me laugh out loud! "Ooh! My Soul" that was good!

Lynn, the photo and the last line touched me so...

All that creative energy coming from one city is truly amazing!

I am so happy that your Mom has the gazebo in view!

Kudos on a beautiful 55!

Thank you! It was fun to do! Mom has always loved gazebos - I found a gazebo Christmas ornament that she loves and it is the closest she has come to having one.

Yes, Bradford Pears are a sight to behold. We don't have any on our own property but I love seeing their fluffy whiteness everywhere around town after our thick glaciers melt.

Yay for a 55! Now, can you drive 55??

Jim builds gazebos.

Awesome Friday 55! I'm sure that view will be beautiful year 'round..I know I breathe just a little easier when I get to my hometown. :)

Riot Kitty -

There was a hard drizzle so that's why it looks so misty.

Kim -

They love Macon and the town they left behind, too. Bittersweet for them and us.

Oh, my... a view of Bradford Pears from the bedroom window. Whatever sorrow they're suffering from after this bittersweet move, waking up to that view will surely put some balm on the wound.

Poignant short short story :)

Meredith -

My mom has an illness that requires daily care so they have moved to a gorgeous assisted living community. Just lovely people living and working there. Dad wanted to go with her - such devotion. And the Bradford Pears - definitely a bonus!

Nope no gazebo here -- no room left to build anything! He built a lovely one in Nova Scotia, tho. Attached to a deck.

Jannie -

I'll bet it was nice!

Thanks!

It was very lovely yes until it went missing one June night.

Blinking lights had been reported along the coast line. Aliens probably. Poor defenseless gazebos abducted for invasive experiments.

Thank you - it is a lovely place. Rajasthan is a lovely place, too!

Snaggle -

As soon as there are no more pictures to hang I'll visit the Allman Brothers museum and report back. My folks seem to be happy there - some getting used to.

Jannie Funster said...

Nope, just rabbits in hutches I think.

Lynn said...

Poor bunnies. :)

Jannie Funster said...

All the bunnies came back, tho after 2 days. And seemed really really happy. No visible scars or trauma or anything.

And the aliens had even knit them cute little booties!

Lynn said...

It is good to hear that there are nice aliens out there. :)

Snaggle Tooth said...

Did they bring their 20 baby bunnies back with them?

Lynn said...

Snaggle -

LOL - we'll have to find out from Jannie. :)
