On the wane, yours aye and the SEC

- Flowers are on the wane in the southeast, a sure sign that Indian Summer is on the way. Temperatures are blessedly cooler, the back porch just begging to be used.

- Being asked to be on the officer nominating committee for my Scottish Clan (in America) and enjoying the emails flying back in forth. The New England commissioner signs off with the very lyrical "Yours Aye."

- The Today Show crowd this morning included a clump of Southeastern Conference football supporters from the University of Alabama, the University of Georgia and University of Florida. And reflecting that the major sport at my urban concrete college was smoking around the outside doors or dodging the smokers. :)

Here in the UK we seem to have the cooler temperatures all year round. Sometimes I long for some more extreme weather. I'd even put up the snow to get the blistering hot sun for a while. Instead of that we get this bland nothingy weather all year round.

Joe -

I was in London a few years ago in June and the temps were in the 70s (farhinheit) - everyone thought it was hot, but we loved it. We are more accustomed to 20 degrees higher than that with soul sucking humidity.

Funny how we hardly use our deck in the summer, but now that fall is on its way, we do more. My sunflowers are still going strong. May they do so for several weeks...

Wow, how cool for you to have such an organized Scottish clan. That would be a wonderful way to connect with your relatives.

Cooler here too -- only expecting a high of 92 for tomorrow! And you?

We're into day four clear skies and sunshine and everyone is holding their breath to see if it will last. The temps are unseasonably cool (down to the mid-40's at night), but I'm not complaining - I'm soaking it up. Normally this is the hottest, most humid time of the year for us.

Aye, that's a fun way to sign off an email! Sounds like you're having a blast, Lynn.

Have a super weekend!

We're cooler than usual here today. It will only be in the mid 80s for our visitors, the University of Georgia!

You must be off to Paris or Rome for the weekend?

:)

Ah, the joys of the back yard deck.

Temps are starting to cool off here as they're barely squeaking into the bottom 70's.

Back yard deck is great for simply observing Father and Mother Nature romping around. :-]

Yours aye! I love it...my family's part Scots as well. Part everything, actually...we jumped the fence everywhere ;)

Jewel -

The deck is used primarily for phone calls now that it is cooler - I prop my feet up on the railing and chat.

I don't know exactly how it happened, but I ended up being commissioner for the State of Georgia for my Scottish clan. It has been so great having an extended "family" and we really are.

Jannie -

I was in middle Georgia since Friday a.m. - highs around 90? If I recall correctly. Not nearly as muggy as usual. Glad it is cooling off for you. :)

Talon -

That sounds so lovely! I'm glad you got some sunshine. Yours aye...

I am of Scottish heritage. OK - "I klute ya on yer lug" back at ya! The Googling failed me on this one. :) Reviresco! (I flourish!) Always enjoy the Stuarts at Clan gatherings.

Come on down to the Stone Mountain Highland Games and hang out in my tent. We love the Wallace's! A huge thrill on my trip to Scotland was seeing the statue of William Wallace from Sterling Castle.

Sue -

In the South it went from Winter to Summer somehow. I will miss the flowers, but I am ready for Fall. Smiles to you.

Cookie -

I snapped that during a photo stop during a work meeting last week - a community that was full of nice landscaping.

Mama Zen -

And sadly your visitors did not prevail over the weekend. Go Dawgs anyway! :)

Jannie -

No - only my hometown of Milledgeville, Georgia. Mom is in the hospital, so I went to stay with dad and visit her with him. Daughters are taking shifts. And - can I say - what is up with a town that has a library that closes on Saturday? I was counting on the computer there to catch up on the 900 emails I have a your blogs (and my blog.)

G -

Looking forward to seeing them romp (a lot.) :)

Riot Kitty -

Welcome! It is fun to research these things. It is great that you have so much heritage to draw upon. :)

Hope things are going better for your Mom n Pa very soon. I'll say prayers for them-
After only being openned for 20 hours a week, our library finally got accredited for state funding by being open more hours about a month ago- there was a line for those computers-

Thank you. It is so great to have blogging friends like you.

I hadn't even thought of that - the library is run by the state and might be closed due to budget issues. I am so accustomed to seeing the folks lined up to use the computers at my home library that I expected to be able to do that. :)
