Starting out, better and letting go

- This sweet little house in the neighborhood of Pendale in my hometown was a starter home for my mom and dad back in the day. It now houses an insurance company. Strange that it used to seem so large.

- Deciding that a fountain Diet Coke with lots of ice just makes life seem better.

- Getting locked out of a room in which I have been doing volunteer work before stepping outside to make a call, I am frantic because my purse and car keys are inside and it is too late for custodial staff to be there. After hovering over the security guards while they ponder, I finally realize this just might be the time I need to sit down for quiet reflection. They eventually get the door open and I get several minutes of eye-closing peace.

Lynn, I know just what you mean - places shrink. I guess it's twofold - we lived in these places when we were small and the place has grown truly grown larger than life in our memories.

I can imagine how panic striken you were! I'm impressed that you found time for calm reflection in the midst of your panic.

Wow, you are an optimist to see the good in the locking-out incident.

When I've gone back to my elementary school, everything looks dwarf-size, too.

On the rare occasion I drink soda, I love love love it on lots of ice.

Have a great week, Lynn! Keep smiling :-)

That backyard seemed huge to me in my three-year-old's memory. It was fenced in because we had a huge German shepherd.

Yes - I was initially told that there was nothing anyone could do to get my stuff out. I had to nicely stand my ground or my post would have been titled, "Overnight at Georgia Public Broadcasting."

Jewel -

You have a great week, too! I don't drink sodas much either, but I am feeling a little tired this week, so Diet Coke packs in a little temporary energy. :)

that is a sweet house. i'd be close to a heart attack of almost losing my purse and keys!

I know! I said, "You HAVE to get it out!" It's like being locked out of your house - a helpless feeling.

A fountain coke with just the right crushed ice is one of the best things in life!

How you found the strength and good sense not to hover over the security guard I will never know!

I saw the house I lived in as a baby, recently and was shocked by how small it was.

I don't drink any diet sodas, the sweeteners in them taste so bad to me!

Oh and I don't like too much ice either! It dilutes the flavour too much!

Not that I'm fussy on anything. ;)

Mama Zen -

That is such a treat to me. Love it.

They were on the verge of sending me away anyway since I was getting so antsy. :)

Joe -

I remember that as being such a happy neighborhood - lots of young couples with little ones. It's totally turned commercial now. And how they ever got four people in there...

We're big on ice here in the States. :)

Hi Lynn,

...a nice quiet, reflection...

I think those are such precious moments in our lives, no matter where we are or what is going on.

Wishing you all the rest you need and desire :)

Thank you Evita - what a lovely name. Life has been a bit crowded lately - but finding for peace is a blessing. I am glad you stopped by!

My ex used to work in sales at a funeral home and once accidentally locked himself in the morgue. I'm thinking that would induce an equal amount of panic ;)

Oh, that diet coke from the fountain is so true! I used to crave it when I was pregnant. COuldnt be from a can or bottle had to be from a fountain. I have no idea why!
Sounds like the lock out helped in the end :)

Riot Kitty -

How funny! Oh there would have been some massive hovering trying to get out of that morgue. :)

Cookie -

I wish I had a fountain DC right now! Yes - I needed those few moments. It turned out nicely. :)

It's odd how places seemed larger- My apartment was always small, but seemed larger when the kids were in it still growing up- Can't believe I used to fit more furniture in here.

Getting locked out is the pits! At least some one was there to help you. Most folks just have a meltdown n regret it later...
