Hanging in, around the corner and show-stopping

- Neighbor Rhonda's still blooming perennials, hanging in there even after the first frost. It feels odd for so many flowering plants to be blooming with dead leaves fluttering around. But it hints of the promise of spring around the corner.

- Receiving my first Christmas party invitation in the mail, courtesy of friend Tim, making me remember that the holidays are actually just around the corner. :)

- On a recent trip to my parents' home in Milledgeville, the neighbors were already beginning to decorate their house for the holidays. The family was having a wonderful time sorting out lights and pulling out reindeer, big candy canes, etc. out of boxes. It promises to be one of those show-stopping houses that people drive out of their way to look at.

Have a great weekend! I hope it will be filled with lovely good things.

The thought of the looming holidays seems bizarre. We didn't have a summer, so I'm not sure we're interested in having a winter either! ;)

A couple of nights ago, the temp dropped to 32 and killed everything. It was weird, because I was still picking tomatoes just the day before!

It is bizarre. It is like a summer day here - not sure of the temp, but I found some shade to park my car in just now so it won't be hot when I get in it later.

I need to bring in my geraniums, but just haven't - I'm sure they are loving outside today.

I love the way Americans decorate the outside of their houses.

You must be so popular! Actually we've had an invite for New Years Eve, so I must be popular too.

And don't make me jealous with your warm weather ok?

Hints of spring! I love it, Lynn! Now...if we could just get some of those hints in Wisconsin!!

Joe -

I am having a hard time wrapping my mind around the holidays just yet. It was disconcerting to see a Christmas card and party invite inside. :) So soon? Should I be shopping?

Riot Kitty -

Happy Friday to you, too!

Lance -

I wish that for you in Wisconsin. Or come visit the south. :)

I've let my garden go wild, no more porting house plants in and out. life is easier for me that way and allows more time for blogging and runnning around with a bag on my head.

Jannie -

The weather has never seemed awful enough yet for bringing the plants in. And don't put a bag over your pretty head!

I just got my first Christmas invitation too. Seemed very strange to me. Not even THanksgiving yet!

So you finally got a frost- I have a few annuals sporadically out n still alive, due to the elevation of the deck, n lower being colder.
I'll have fun finding time to do any holiday stuff, with only a few days off left until then, n having to work on the holiday.
At least you'll get a light show going to see the folks now- that's cool!

Cookie -

And I was looking for a Thanksgiving figurine for mom and finally found one on a sale table - all the Christmas stuff is out already.

I am curious what you do that you all work on holidays. Share? I hope you'll find time for some fun and for some cool photos to share with us.

Lynn, thought you already knew- I work at a bakery making many dough-based products for a popular national corporation which shall remain nameless. We distribute daily to SouthEastern MA n Cape Cod.
I can't discuss details to stay out of trouble.

What is that Candy thing- need shoes?

I don't think I had ever seen it written about exactly - I've just been reading your blog this year. Thank you - now I can visualize what you are going through.

I don't know what that shoe thing was all about, but certainly SPAM and has been deleted. :)
