Vintage, awesome and all good things

- According to Eliot Glazer, "Before the fanny packs and Andrea Bocelli concerts, your parents (and grandparents) were once free-wheeling, fashion-forward, and super awesome." Interview heard on NPR on the way home tonight. Eliot's blog "My Parents Were Awesome" shows vintage photo after vintage photo of parents before they were parents, back in the day, looking cool. Check it out, it is a pretty cool photo blog.

- These two parents, pictured above, were pretty awesome and still are. One of my friends spotted these photos and said, "Wow, they looked like movie stars!"

- A belated happy Veterans Day to my dad - still in the hospital (but expected to be OK.) I am on my way to be with him now. I hope you all have a wonderful, happy weekend, filled with all good things!

It's funny how we forget the people our parents were before they were our parents. Did that make any sense?

Your mother and father look glorious in those photos! They radiate happiness.

Enjoy your visit with your father, Lynn!

Like your blogs. Short, but we still get a sampling of Atlanta or just a slice of life. Wish I had more time to just pour over what you've written. I'll be back, though.

Holy Super-WOW, Lynn! Such a beautiful post and you must be GORGEOUS if you take after either of those two.

I'll talk to you soon.

And hey, you have your dad's eye, don't you? (Well, probably both of your eyes resemble his, but I've only ever seen one of yours. And lovely it is.)

Whoops, I see I'm using Blue Bunny's account... oh well, I'm sure he'll (she'll?) forgive me.

:)

Yeah, I think everyone looked younger and more radiant in high school. Now, how do we get that back?

They do look like they could have been movie stars. Great smiles! :)

Talon -

It is easy to forget that. I like the concept of that website and hope to have time to really go through it.

Dad had that photo taken in Shanghai during WWII. That was mom's engagement picture that went in the newspaper for the announcement of their engagement.

Lance -

Thank you - I did enjoy being with him, although he and I were cooped up in a hospital room the whole time. He is way over being in the hospital.

Riot Kitty -

Thank you!.

Joe -

I hope he is well soon. He is suffering from the residual effects of cardiac distress.

Snaggle -

I love vintage photos! I would love to see one of your folks. It is a fun website - I didn't have a chance to go through it thoroughly, but plan to.

Bubbie -

I have sort of a short attention span so tend to keep it short. Thank you for stopping by!

Jannie Muffin! You have hacked into Blue Bunny's account. :) How funny! And I look like dad pretty much - thanks for saying they are gorgeous. I think so, too. :)

Mama Zen -

They are doing a small procedure tomorrow - hopefully he'll be better after that and can go home then.

Elizabeth -

Welcome to my blog - I will check out yours. It's like that line in a Bob Segar song, "wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then" - it is fun looking back, but not sure I'd really want to do it over again. :)

Cookie -

Thank you - I love those photos. They sit at the top of my computer armoire and smile me when I walk in my home office. :)

Hope all is well there-
I can't put my other old pics on yet, due to the scanner not working now.
Got one of my young Dad in an old post here
