Errant, covet and annual visit

- These two errant peppermints discovered in the bottom of my purse from Christmastime, looking so pretty in the little dish niece Abby put in my stocking.

- They are sitting on top of a book that I covet reading time for: Southern writer Pat Conroy's, "South of Broad." A Washington Post reviewer says about Conroy, "No one can describe a tide or a sunset with his lyricism and exactitude." Maybe this weekend - I hear there is rain on the way...

- An annual visit to the emissions place for the required test on my car, and the guy with the Barry White voice is still there, blasting his soulful music. Calling my mother while I wait, she says "Where ARE you?"

Here's where I hope you are: about to have a really great weekend. Hope it is truly great!

I was thinking those were two giant mints on bread- plate sized tray!

Sounds like a great read.

Hope your emissions pass with flying colors!!

My mother is a massive Pat Conroy fan. Her favourite book by him is Prince of Tides.

Nothing like soul music for... well moving the soul.

I'm dj-ing Saturday night. I may play some Barry White now.

Jannie -

My car passed with flying colors and I did not ask the guy to slow dance, but thought about it. :)

Joe -

Maybe "Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe" - that's my favorite! I am glad my humble blog provided inspiration this morning.

Love the dragonfly dish. And it is always interesting to go through my purse once in a while to see what candy has escaped its season.

I've never read Pat Conroy, maybe just read a few pages into Prince of Tides, but that sounds like a great book.

Have a great weekend too!

I hope you get some rain this weekend - is that mean? Because an anticipated book and a rainy day go hand in hand!

So does the guy make the emission test results sound sexy? ;)

Jewel -

I love dragonflies. The girls get something with a dragonfly on it every year at Christmas. Last year it was dragonfly towel hooks.

Talon -

I kind of hope it rains, too. I am planning to make a lentil stew and read. Sigh...

Oh yeah! A very sexy voice. Nice man, too.

Isn't it fun when you start collecting things? I think it makes your family and friends happy gift-givers.

My family enjoys giving me Hello Kitty stuff. I love it.

Jewel -

I think it certainly makes for a thoughtful gift that way. Hello Kitty stuff is fun. :)

Lynn, you're getting rain and we're supposed to get ice. In both cases, sounds perfect for a comfy read under a blanket. I've never read anything by Pat Conroy... let me know if you recommend this one after you've finished. :)

That dish your niece gave you is so lovely. (Dragonflies are a personal favorite!)

That is hilarious about Barry White!

Did you tell your mom a good tale? You know, just for fun?

Meredith -

There might be ice in the north Georgia mountains tonight. And Pat Conroy writes a good yarn. I always love his books.

Dragonflies - love them so much. I have a pin that I like to wear with suits.

Riot Kitty -

He said, "Heyyyy Sweetie" - his voice is so great that I kind of like being called sweetie by him.

Mama Zen -

No - but I was thinking, "I'm about to slow dance with the emissions guy." :)

I read "The Prince Of Tides" by the same author many years ago. Happy reading!

The Prince of Tides. I loved that book and couldn't put it down.

Your pic must be an extreme close-up! The book seems huge.
I love finding buried goodies still edible. I had some old Jelly-bellies in the cupboard, but mice chewed into the box- I hate that!

I too, really like the sculptured dish!
I always read books during car repair visits, n waiting at Doc offices. It's all I can do to read the local paper lately. Time tho read the tax form book again, too!

You have a great Sunday!

I guess that shot was a little out of proportion.

My niece did a great job picking out that little dish for me - it is something I would have bought for myself.

You have a great Sunday, too!

Lynn, I just finished South of Broad. I found the first 5-60 pages a bit dull, but after that I read as often as possible until I finished it. I hope you will enjoy it too.

Thanks for following!

I read of someone's excitement over discovering your blog again on someone else's blog and had to come look. Thank you for stopping by and the thoughts of South of Broad. I'm liking it so far.
