No Rockettes, Cherry Ginger Explosion and proud

- Walking down the street in New York with my sister, looking for the bus, and happening upon Radio City Music Hall. A passing man looks amused when he overhears me say I have no wish to see The Rockettes. :)

- Back home, perusing the cookies at a place called The Cookie Studio for a treat to take to a meeting. A bored teenager goes over the cookie flavors with me and I choose Cherry Ginger Explosion mainly because of its name. The website tells the story of how this cookie came to be: "A lovely woman came into the Studio one day and told us that her dream was always to open a cookie shop. Now in her 70s, she decided that she wanted to share with us a few of her favorite recipes. This cookie is our rendition, with the addition of crystallized ginger and tart lemon. Our reaction when tasting the first samples out of the oven? It was like a flavor explosion in our mouths -- this cookie practically named itself!" ... Aptly named! Yum.

- After the meeting later, listening to the talk of talented kids and their upcoming concerts, plays, good grades and homecomings.

Rockettes have been on TV alot this week, btw- gaining holiday popularity- At the title I was wondering how that could explode- Too much baking soda in the ginger? Now I want one...
Talented kids are very inspiring, n so full of hope! Lets also hope the future alows them to flourish in a better economy! (n us too!)

I have no desire to see the Rockettes either. I've never seen them, and lots of people like them, so maybe I'm missing out, but they're not on my list.

The Rockettes were brilliant!! Saw them last year in NY doing their Christmas show and I loved every minute. Their timing was perfect. I loved it when they all fell to the ground like dominos.

The partner and kids loved them too. :)

I think I'd rather see a play than the Rockettes.

Cookies sound expolsively awesome!

Ahhh, my kiddoe's got a piano recital, school cultural performance and gymnastics show coming up soon -- some of my favorite life moments to see her having fun at those.

xoxo

I hear the Rockettes Christmas show is something else - sort of a tradition thing, I think.

Those cookies sound delicious. Cherry and ginger sound a great combination.

Such a hectic, but fun, time of year.

Will I think I'd have to buy two tickets to the Rockettes.

Not sure I would put anything in my mouth from NY that had the word explosion in it.

Have to LOL at the last part of this post. The last kids I overheard talking were talking about sex, texting, a fight at school and bad grades.

Yeah, I too can think of much better things to do in NYC than go see kicking in unison. ;)

I don't know about how I'd react to a *cherry* ginger explosion, but this time of year I cannot get enough ginger snaps. I'm planning on baking another batch on Friday, and I sincerely doubt they'll last through the weekend. That's my kind of ginger explosion, I guess.

Welcome home, Lynn!

Snaggle -

You must have gone to bed later than usual to be first.

I ended up bringing the leftovers in and the press people loved them. One of them just asked about the lemon in the ginger cookie.

Yes - this group of proud moms made me realize how talented their kids are. I expect my baby great niece to be like that, too - she is taking music, swimming and exercise classes at 9 months old at the Y.

FB -

They've been on TV so much that I don't want to see them in person. That was the #1 thing people asked me if I was going to do though. :)

Joe -

I can imagine that it would be fun to see them if you had not been exposed to them a great deal on TV like I have. It sounds as if you and your family had a wonderful time.

Jannie -

Another talented girl, our Kelly. How could she not be? Her mom is talented, too. xoxo

Talon -

It is hectic - I am loaded up with stuff to do from now until Christmas day.

Ellis -

It was moms talking about their kids - I have no doubt there is some of that going on in the background though. :)

Meredith -

Thanks! I want to try the gingersnaps from Trader Joes. I've never actually made them - I'll bet yours are yummy.

I'm last.

I clean forgot to say, "Welcome Back!"

Do we have our batteries recharged, a twinkle in our eye and a bounce in our step now?

Wow! I'd love to try that cookie! Yummm.

As for Radio City Music Hall, that photo brought back memories of my childhood trip to NYC. I had a blast...and no, I did not (nor do I wish to) see The Rockettes. :)

Sage -

So good.

Riot Kitty -

My friend Leisa told me about it - they are in a building connected to a dive looking convenience store. Totally yummy.

G -

Not last! Yes - I'd say so, but it made me want to travel more now.

Lulu -

I had a blast, too. At one point my sister hugged me on the street to thank me for coming. We don't get time like that very often.

Cherry Ginger Explosion should also be the name of a Shonen Knife song! I'd pay to hear that! :P

Man, I'm hungry now. Ginger is one of my favourite flavours of anything! Drooo-oool...
