- Bringing a bushel of Florida oranges in to the crew at work and loving the smell of them throughout the building. And as you can see, a few were snagged for home.
- My co-worker Bobby is usually the first person I see on work mornings. Hard at work in the bindery, he always has a good morning smile for me and a comment about the weather or temperature. On this morning he is bursting to tell me that in the midst of the freak snowstorm in Atlanta, a hummingbird visited his feeder.
- Elise at Simply Recipes tells of the new patio that is going in at her home and not being able to resist writing something in the hardening concrete. Four words:
Love
Joy
Peace
Beauty
The stone mason scratches his head when he sees it and reminds her that the words will be covered by flagstones. Not to worry, she says, she likes knowing the words will be there for her family and friends to walk over. Even if they will be covered.

What your friend did with the wet cement is so cool.I totally get that.
And good for Bobby. Anyone who gets that excited about a little (but marvelous) thing like that just enjoys life more, I think.
...and I'm first! hehe

You are first - I think you and I are early birds.
It's true about him - he does enjoy life more and we are probably the only two people who work here that would think something like that is wonderful. :)
It's been a while since I been to Florida, but I've always brought back a box of oranges--they are so good. Enjoy the little things!
I'm charmed by the hummingbird in the snowstorm. Such a delightful moment, no wonder he was bursting to share it!
An orange or two
They got from you
Tho some made it home
A hummingbird did fly
Past Bobby’s eyes
As the freak snowstorm blow
The words she scribed
Before his eyes
Only a few know
Now we do to
That's neat about the words. Me, I'd probably write something like, "The bitch is back," and insist on leaving it uncovered.
Florida oranges are wonderful, aren't they? :)
Btw, I love that those messages will forever be in the cement...seen or unseen, they're there!

One of my co-workers says she has enjoyed walking by the box of oranges, picking one up and breathing in the scent.

Charming is a great word for that.

I like it - thank you for my poem. :)

Not an accurate description of you. No way.

I loved that, too. And oh yes, Florida oranges are the best.
I love this practice of sharing the good things that happened.
It's interesting to know that some thing that some one says or does can make an impact on someone to the extent that it involves some lingering thought and a blog post. I know that sounds really duuuhhhh, but it's really quite special.
Anyway, my husband and I refinished our own wood floors when we bought this house. We took a knife and inscribed words at the thresholds of every room - "abundance" at the kitchen, "harmony" at the living room, "destiny" at our bedroom, etc. No one ever notices, but it's nice knowing it's there. :)
Lucky co-workers! I love fresh-picked Fl oranges! My Sis said her Valencia tree died (Rats!)
I bet Bobby's hummingbird was very greatful to have that feeder handy in the snow! I've been feeding squirrels n birds extra this week,
"Words etched in the soul remain forever.. "
what the cement writing says to me.
Interesting what Wendy did-
Wendy -
Thank you for saying that - you make me want to keep doing it.
And how wonderful that you carved those words into your flooring. You know they are there, which makes it all the greater.

I'm not surprised you feed the wildlife around you - that's lovely.
The scent of oranges is unbeatable in many ways.
Or maybe the words will speak to passing feet even from under the flagstones. They just might.
