The Force, groundhog facts and getting started

- It's film festival week here on Good Things Happened. :) This one came via friend Marty, who says, "Volkswagen's mini-Darth Vader ad is hilarious. The child actor manages to express a lot of emotion even though you can't see his face." I got a kick out of it, too. Make sure your sound is up so you can hear the Stars Wars music.

- From friend Mary, "My super intelligent 4-year-old informed me that groundhogs are also known as woodchucks and whistle pigs. Additionally, they are capable of climbing trees to escape, if necessary. When asked if General Lee* saw his shadow this morning, she matter-of-factly replied "I'm not sure. I was at school. You can check Google on your iPad."

- Changing into sweat pants and fleece jacket for a late afternoon walk after work in Tanyard Creek Park, the site of the famous Civil War battle of Peachtree Creek. It turned out to be a wonderful place to walk - I'm hooked. The weather was brisk, and there were other walkers, runners and dog walkers. A good day to start walking again with the promise of an early spring on the way.

* We have the groundhog celebrity General Beauregard Lee in Georgia. Same kind of deal as in Pennsylvania, except no fireworks. :)

That little boy is hilarious! You're right, he does express a lot of emotion without showing his face. I would've liked to have seen him eat that sandwich while wearing the mask. :)

Lynn~ How cute is that? My husband would play tricks like that on my son when he was growing up. He had my son convinced he could control the 'wind washers' (wind shield washers) by command and also my husband had a very miniature briefcase (for business cards) and he convinced my son it had been a regular sized briefcase that he 'shrunk.' Yes~ he had my son convinced that he had superpowers. :)

Phil gets fireworks? I'm shocked he'd ever consider coming out of his den! We have local groundhogs, but they're smart enough to stay indoors with slippers and cups of cocoa until it's warm out :)

Pretty good wrap up poem! Thank you for it. :)

I loved it, too. So funny. And I wondered if perhaps it was a girl.

Joe -

I'm glad you liked it. :) Happy birthday!

That's great. Children are so wonderful, aren't they?

When they showed the PA celebration yesterday, the reporter could hardly be heard for the fireworks noise.

Well, did General Lee see his shadow? I don't trust that Yankee groundhog . . .

I want a groundhog celebrity! We just have a beaver on the state flag, which is lame.

Out of the mouths of babies:~) I laughed about your friend's daughter!
I also like the name Whistle Pig. I think that would have been a better name. Then we would have "Whistle Pig Day!" Everyone could bring a whistle.

I'm so pleased you enjoyed the gift of nice walk, which also reminded you that Spring will be here soon.

Oh, the video was funny...have a great evening:~)

Kewl ad.

Encore movie channel showed nothing but "Groundhog Day" all day yesterday.

I need to know what General Lee said.

Adorable ad. I love the despondency over the ordinary sandwich. ;)

We call them woodchucks here -- and unfortunately for me, we have quite a few in the nearby woods, and they love to demolish gardens. I actually discovered when talking to my neighbors recently that it was a woodchuck who ate all my family heirloom beans last season (and not the deer I'd assumed), and my neighbors watched it happening and did *nothing* because "he was cute" -- gahhh!

I'll see the ad next week at BBMs. Love the star wars theme music tho- once made a short film to it in college.
I had a friend years ago across town near woods who was scared silly of the woodchuck out back, cause he wasn't afraid n would charge at them with those big, yellow teeth- guess they're territorial.
Walking is always good- tho most of mine is to save gas money lately. It does make you feel better. Good luck keeping up the plan!

Dearest Blue Bunny - thank you for taking time out of your bizzie day to come by. Give your Jannie a hug and Kelly, too. Tell them to give you a hug and Jim. :)

Mama Zen -

He did not see his shadow just the same as his Yankee cousin. :)

Riot Kitty -

There is a groundhog that keeps taking up residence under my sister's mountain house porch - we should ship him up to you and we could find a good Pacific Northwest name for him. Drawing a blank right this second. :)

Sara -

I think Whistle Pig Day has a much better ring to it!

G -

That is so cool that they did that. :)

FB -

General Beauregard Lee, resident groundhog at the Yellow River Game Ranch in Lilburn, Georgia emerged from his "Weathering Heights" home at 7:41 am EST and also did not see his shadow in soggy, 44 degree weather. So looks like an early Spring here in Georgia.

Isn't it funny that his home is called Weathering Heights??? lol.

I wonder if sprinkling cayenne pepper would work? I heard about a bird seed that has that - it foils squirrels, but birds don't have taste buds like that. That would upset me, too!

Snaggle -

I sort of wish I lived someplace where you could walk places for a purpose - such as a Saturday morning walk to get a newspaper. Here it would be miles. Come to think of it - I guess that is a good idea. :)

You'll have to teach me how to embed video. I like your choices. I laughed out loud at that ad ... when I was a kid, my dad could make a blue light appear on the dashboard. He would say, "Little blue light, go on!" and we could do it too.

This was in the days when the high-beams were activated by a button near the driver's left foot :)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY x

That's neat about your dad.

And it's very easy to embed a video on blogger. You tube has an option to "share" - when you click on the Share button, the Blogger icon displays. Click on that and it makes an instant post and embeds the video for you.
