It's back, fun facts and off to work

- So we have a little snow again this morning. The sign on the photo is doctored, of course, but a giggle for its tongue-in-cheek truth about how Southerners react to snowfall.

- From a fun facts about Atlanta email: >>The falling of one raindrop causes all drivers to immediately forget all traffic rules. If a single snowflake falls, the city is paralyzed for three days and it's on all the channels as a news flash every 15 minutes for a week. Overnight, all grocery stores will be sold out of milk, bread, bottled water, toilet paper, and beer.>>

- As it turns out, it was only about an inch and not sticking to roads. I'm certain that the grocery store chains were excited about the influx of shoppers shoring up their pantries last night. :)

Ha!! I *love* the doctored up sign!!

Enjoy the, ummmm, white stuff, while it lasts!! And if you ever need more, just let me know...(we've got way more than we need!!)

We're so used to the hyperbole about snow that the only time we actually pay attention to the hyperbole is when we see the couple of feet of snow that they were hyperventilating about on the ground outside our front window.

*falls over laffing*

that sign!

Areas that are accustomed to this amount of snowfall are also prepared to deal with it. It is a record for us to receive over two feet of snow and we are paralyzed by the lack of plowing and sand and salt. There is no plan to take care of local neighborhoods and people simply cannot get out of their homes. It is crazy. That sign is certainly appropriate for us. When we finally did manage to get to the store they were out of almost everything. Today's temp is -20.

I'm the one responsible for 90% of the beer sales.

Actually, I hit the meat aisle in cold weather times. Must be the Canadian / part Esquimo in me. :)

That sign is GREAT!! So fun.

This makes me laugh. As a native of Milwaukee, Wisconsin we are hardened to weather. Just this past week, Milwaukee had 18 PLUS inches of snow...( the snow actually drifted to 8 feet covering my sister's back patio entirely; taking 3 teenage boys 3 hours to clear it...) and they closed schools for the first time in 20 years. :-)

lol! It would make driving more interesting if the highway signs had more to say than info on traffic flow!

Blimey and I thought it was only the UK that panicked when there is a light layer of snow on the ground!

I'd love to be able to operate those signs.

"Hey you, stop picking your nose!"

Great sign... Interestingly, even up here in Yankee-land, people get all excited about snow... Someone was complaining to me today about the cold and snow and I responded that we do live in Michigan and she came back, but we don't live in Minnesota. After a warm start to winter, we are having a cold one. Stay safe.

Lance -

It's already gone since the temperature was right at 33 degrees this morning. All melted. And you just keep all that snow - I am out of love with it now.

G -

That's funny. :)

FB -

Isn't that great? It makes me think of the highway signs in LA Story. I always wonder what would happen if someone actually hacked into the system that updates these things and put something crazy like that on it.

Granny Annie -

It makes me think of pioneer times when people had to put up food in jars for hard times. -20? OMG!

Jannie -

I like a soul warming stew or soup myself. I've done that so much lately that I'm out of freezer containers - they are all full and in the freezer.

xo

Ellis -

It's good that you are stocked up on something anyway. :)

lg -

That makes me think of when my sister lived in Alaska. The snow would cover the windows.

Talon -

I think so, too.

Joe -

That would be so funny - you'd be great at that. :)

Sage -

Thank you - I will. I always think of Michigan as just as snowy as Minnesota. Interesting.

That sign made me laugh. The same could be said for how Seattle drivers handle snow. Rain is a different story out here.

Oh, and did I mention that we haven't gotten any snow here since November??

Lynn,
Lynn,

That's a great doctored sign and perfect. My eldest daughter went to college in Atlanta and she had the funniest stories about what happen when it rained in Atlanta. I mean snow makes sense, but evidently even rain would make people do crazy things...at least according to my daughter.

Drive carefully, now...you hear?

Sounds like Oklahoma!

That sign is a riot!

Why is it that when anyone panics they must buy beer?? I'd scratch that off and put vino, but that's just me. :)

After the second 12-hour day in two days, I must be tired - because I misread that last paragraph to say "panties."

Cookie -

Something seems off about Seattle not getting snow, but Atlanta is.

Sara -

Yes - rain does make people here crazy. :)

MZ -

I always feel like singing the song from the musical Oklahoma when you say it. :)

Lulu -

Yes - I'm with ya. I usually have wine around, not beer.

Riot Kitty -

Wow - that is two long days. Sorry to hear that.

I thought that was a real sign til you explained it- Very funny! Youi're sure getting snowed on alot this year! As long as the drivings ok n it doesn't stick or need shoveling, you're very lucky!
The market effect's been weekly here!

This one turned out to be much ado about nothing. The last one was so bad because it had been below freezing for a few days, we got dumped with snow and then had sleet on top of that. I thought it never would melt.

Great sign! Wouldn't it be awesome if the signs read something interesting sometimes?

I'm glad y'all didn't have another big one, though. They can be so dangerous when they linger and people insist on trying to drive in conditions they're not prepared for.

I think it might be easy enough for someone to commandeer a sign - I wonder if that ever happens?
