Glisten, south Georgia and like
- From Friday walk, these trees are still blooming around the park near my office, the scattering of blossoms make the tree glisten. The markers below the tree give a detailed account of the Civil War battle fought on this spot.
- In south Georgia on Saturday, where there is bright sunshine, amazingly friendly people and always the faint scent of barbecue smoke in the air. Mom and I try a barbecue restaurant for lunch called "Granddaddy's Barbecue" - she critiques the pulled pork as not being quite smoky enough. I ask how many stars she would give it out of a possible five. "Three stars," she decides.
- Telling my mother on Mother's Day that I like her. She smiles and says she likes me, too. :)

You know it's easier to say you love someone, than it is to say you like them. :) I'm glad you like your mother and that she likes you. :)
Lynn, That last line is so sweet!
I can picture your Mom rating the pulled pork like the critics on "Chopped Chef: Master's..."
:-) :-)
3 star food will do in a pinch. :-)
the faint scent of barbecue... my mouth is now watering...
Ahhh, the last one is so sweet, as LouvreGirl says. I'm gonna tell Kelly today I like her!
And funny! I today bought some barbecue sauce on the way home from dropping the Kellster -- Jack Daniel's "Hickory Brown Sugar." Looks good. Bought some ribs. Took a small pack out to defrost, so I think Wednesday I'll be a-bakin' ribs.
Enlarging I saw a sign concerning dogs. Was it about leashing, or scooping? Or advising to tell your pooch today you LIKE them!! :) Off to tell my 2 dogs just that now...
xoxoxo
Joe -
She said something really funny that elicited that "like" comment from me - I don't remember what it was now. But yes - we like each other.

I love that show! That's what made me ask her about the stars. I'll have to make a new tag "Betty and Lynn's restaurant ratings." :)

I agree! The brunswick stew was not good, so it knocked it down a star for me.

We love the barbecue in the south. :)
Jannie -
I'm glad I could inspire that - I'll bet Kelly likes you, too. I hope you had a nice mothers day.
xo
Sorry to hear about the disappointing Brunswick Stew (in comment follow-up). When the stew is done right, the whole meal works out fine for me. :)
Gorgeous pictures of the Kousa dogwoods still in bloom. They were so lovely here about a week ago. I love how the star-shaped blossoms are arrayed almost geometrically on the branches.
Hope your week is off to a fine start, Lynn!
Mmmmm pulled pork....
I'm glad you had a happy mother's day!
That's a sweet story about your mom!
Meredith -
It may be that this stew is a style from another region - it had all fresh ingredients, but the gravy was thin and it was very bland.
Thank you for identifying that tree as a Kousa dogwood - I am seeing those all over. Yesterday I spotted some next to the King Memorial Marta Station.
Sparkling Red -
I did and hope you did, too.
Riot Kitty -
Thank you - I thought so, too. :)
beautiful blossoms- Thanks Meredith for naming the "Kousa dogwoods".
Glad your Mom n you had some quality time for Mother's Day.
I need to be careful about BBQ due to a Hickory allergy- bummer huh?
Snaggle -
A hickory allergy - I have never heard of that. That is a bummer.
I hope you had a good mother's day in spite of working, Snaggle.
