- This cottage sits on busy Collier Road near my office - it is vacant right now, but just waiting for the right commercial tenant who might appreciate those beautiful roses.
- Women hold up half the sky. - Chinese Proverb. A quote from the book I am currently reading: Half the Sky - Turning Oppression into Opportunity for Women Worldwide by Nicholas D. Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn.
- A politely worded note on the trash cans back in the printing plant, asking that the remains of any fruit should be tossed into the weeds outside in the back - the way nature intended. Too many flying visitors have been buzzing about inside.

Roses that suddenly appear make the world go 'round. Nothing like a rose. Or a Lynn!!
The Chinese are very wise. I always enjoy an Amy Tan book, interesting stuff about Chinese culture in her books.
Have an awesome one!!

I love that proverb!
"Women hold up half the sky."

Beautiful quote. And that cottage is gorgeous!
The fruit flies are going to have a feast!
That cottage is lovely! I would move in there in a heartbeat.
lovely cottage.
people should really be more careful with their fruit leavings especially as we enter fruit fly season.

There is nothing like a rose - I agree. Or like a Jannie. :)

So true!
What a nice cottage. I hope the person who finally sees it's beauty will keep up those roses.
Wise move about the flies. Plus you never who else might appreciate a bit of fruit here and there.
Are you enjoying the book? I love proverb!
I love Nicholas Kristof. He is a great advocate for women's rights as human rights.
I'd love to have that place be my office :)
Beautiful cottage! Who wouldn't want to be welcomed home each day by those roses?
Lovely quote...and so true!
I like that cottage, too. :-)
flowers to enlighten
thine clients heart
and draw them right in
is half all they need
half seems to be a favorite word
your half my half
now I want half of yours
Lunch will be served
outside in the back
flies you'd better hurry
before it’s eaten by rats
I hope you helped prune those neglected roses- Love those pink like my Mom used to have! Sounds like a great women's studies book- I did a few semesters of it.
Fruit flies are so hard to get rid of! I wonder what wildlife outside it will attract tho- We get racoons n skunks plus hornets at our work dumpster of food cast-offs- Good Luck!

I'm not very far into it - just a little every day. But yes - right now I'm reading an astounding story of a young woman who had been held captive.
So many books, so little time. :)

That is so cool that you know this author.
And I agree - a great office. Peaceful, I think.

I kept passing those roses and finally stopped to take the photo.

I like that weathered look. I pulled around the back and there is a little patio that looks out on a wooded area. Divine.

lol - yes, we probably haven't thought about the rat issue. Ick.
Thank you for my poem!

I think part of the problem is that loading dock door - they leave it open a lot.
I'm betting a commercial tenant for that cottage will pull up the rose bush to create the appropriate "business" atmosphere. (Unless it turns out to be a flower shop.)
