Reflection, the view and memorable

- While photographing the view from my client's office, I somehow manage to capture my hands holding my camera in the reflection in the glass. That's Kennesaw Mountain off in the distance.

- I remember a story written by Lee Walburn, then editor of Atlanta Magazine. He and his wife had become empty nesters and so they moved to a high rise apartment building in midtown Atlanta (right next door to this building), enabling him to walk to work. He extolled the benefits of urban living and spoke of his view of Kennesaw Mountain in the distance and the tiny hamlet around it that used to be his home, and how it was lovely not being a part of the distant chain of headlights slowly making their way home to the suburbs during rush hour(s).

- This view always makes me think of that story. His editorials were always warm and memorable and I miss them very much. A quick Google search gives the information that after a long career as editor of Atlanta Magazine, Walburn, 73, is now retired and living in Armuchee, Georgia. He lives in a 106-year-old lakefront home with his wife, Jackie and making new memories.

Have a lovely weekend, friends!

I try to remember checking my photographs for reflections in case I'm in my pajamas...or less. LOL

Thanks for the memorable tale.

*waving to Lynn's hands*

It is neat to see places from a whole different perspective, isn't it?

I see your camera and your hands!

A ghost loomed
within the glass
to show us
what they see

Moving up
yet memories gone
of his homeward
moonlight drive

Long gone
but not forgotten
he now lives
far away

I do love a good view. It's tough to choose between the expansiveness of a high-rise vista vs. the coziness of a window that is low enough to be sheltered by trees.

Granny Annie -

I was surprised by seeing my reflection when I looked at those photos this morning. This one wasn't the best photo, but I liked that you could see my camera.

Waving back! It is neat to do that.

Hey - good to see you and hope you are well today. I know you are busy.

There you are - I have missed you and your poems. Thank you for this one - a good wrap-up poem. The image of me does look ghostly!

High rise apartments are fun to me, but I'm not sure I'd like to live in one all the time. My niece's apartment in New York has a wonderful view of the Chrysler Building and I like to stand at the window and watch people scurrying about below.

That is very interesting and surreal how you managed to get your hands/camera into the picture.

Nice view from that office! Strange reflection- nifty!
Commuting can be a tough way to spend free time in traffic, especially around Boston-I avoid the city- n work as local as possible-. Sounds like a great writer to follow! Good for him finding a nice retirement place.
That mountain is interesting too.

Happy weekend to you!

Riot Kitty -

I am still not sure how I did that.

It's unusual for a designer to be in such nice digs - I am lucky to have that account.

I LOVE seeing your hands, Lynn, my camera-shy Lynn. :)

Does look like a nice view. The bunch of trees looks inviting.

I'm ready to move closer to urban utopia, closer to town and The Trail but hubby... not so much.

xoxo

It is - thank you.

You have that great house though. I used to live in midtown Atlanta when I first moved here and really loved it. I'd go back, but now I'm a property owner. :)
