- Many dignitaries were present for the opening of Atlanta's first public solar-powered charging station for electric vehicles at Atlantic Station. (Photo taken of the dedication from my car window on the way to a client meeting.) I almost cropped out the oil spots, but they are part of the story after all.
- A coworker quickly minimizes an Internet page as I walk up to his desk. He sheepishly shows that he was looking at Denny's newest attempt at cholesterol on a plate - a patty melt that has macaroni and cheese in it. Another coworker walks up and says, "Is there a Denny's around here?" :) It's 1690 calories - oh my!
- A mom and her daughter at the natural foods grocery hot food bar. The wee one announces she wants Spanakopita. I smile at her, impressed that she can pronounce that word and she smiles back and swishes her dress. A purple velvet dress with a grand sash. She says, "This is my special dress up party dress." I tell her it is very pretty and go on my way.
I hope your travels throughout the day and the weekend are fun and uplifting. Have a lovely weekend, my friends!

That Denny's concoction sounds like somethning that my favorite burger/dog joint would carry as a special of the day.
Can you say, "sluggish"?
Someday we're going to miss those oil spots...ya think?
At first I thought, I could eat ONE of those sandwiches as my menu for an entire day but even the sandwich is 90 calories over my limit so I would have to save part of it for the next day. Actually it doesn't sound good to me so I'm safe on this one. Yikes!
You know you want a purple velvet party dress don't you? I do not know what Spanakopita is OR how to pronounce it. The child would not bond with me.

Yeah - it's pretty disgusting and would certainly make one feel sluggish. :)
Granny Annie -
What I liked about that was the fact that the temperature was in the 90s and her mom let her wear her velvet dress to some function.
Spanakopita is a Greek dish - a rich pie stuffed with spinach, onions, cheeses and herbs that are all enfolded by crispy, flaky phyllo dough. Delish!
Have a relaxing weekend, Lynn! I'm celebrating Labor Day with a bit of utter laziness at the beach.
"He sheepishly shows that he was looking at Denny's newest attempt at cholesterol on a plate - a patty melt that has macaroni and cheese in it." Lynn, this made me laugh!

Whit -
Have a lovely time at the beach. I'm head for the hills myself for some utter laziness, too. :)

I really thought he was looking at something naughty, from the guilty look he threw me. :) I can't imagine eating that.
1690 calories! And, it doesn't even have chocolate!
That patty melt doesn't even sound good, but the purple dress does. :)
Only 1690? It's practically diet! ;-)
Very impressive...that little girl and her pronunciation!! Hmmm...I almost have a hard time with that word!!!!
Have a wonderful Labor Day weekend, Lynn!
Only you could get such good pics through a car window!
That little girl and her dress sound adorable. You are quite a good sociologist :)

additionally, love your blog title and your writing.
both inspiring!!

ooops! i menat to sau dropping by through claudia's site.
I LOVE Spanakopita. I'll eat them 'til there're none on the plate. And then look for more. So addictive. I'm really not a feta gal but all that spinach ndisguises it for me.
We tend to be IHOP people if we enter one of those calorie laden food dens, about 4 times a year on average, I'd say. Kelly loves the waffles.
A free rechargeable car place -- how great is that!! If they install a coffee bar with free Internet while you're waiting -- be heaven!
Yes, a great weekend already here. Within my first 10 minutes of being up I'd already made my coffee, ironed Jim's shirt, and fed all the pets. Mieshka is out stalking Kit-Kat, she is so funny. At least he's starting to tolerate her now. :)
Hope yours is an energizing, peaceful weekend too, Lynn. And maybe I'll even make it to First Commenter here Monday! Such is my goal. :)
xoxo
Macaroni and cheese in a sandwich? How fiendishly tempting!

Even tho I hate paying the Elec Company, I want an Elec car! Wonder how much the station charges-
Denny's calories- no way! I'd skip it n just eat ice cream!
I can't pronounce that, n don't know what it is! Sounds like a future healthy eater- with good fashion sense!
Happy Labor Day!
Mama Zen -
But some mac n' cheese - oh yum. :)

It seems a bit warm for velvet right now, so I admire the mom for letting her wear it anyway.

Right???? :)

And she pronounced it perfectly. Hope your weekend is good, too.

Welcome and thank you for your kind words. I hope you keep coming!
I love Cloudia's blog, too.

Not sure if that charging station is free, I'll have to check.
OK - I'll hold you to being first on Monday!
