Watching, gracious living and football rivalries

- Downtown Thomasville, Georgia, on Friday afternoon. Waiting patiently.

- All the tables in the dining room at the assisted living facility have a vase of fresh flowers with one deep red rose in the center.

- A woman sports a Gators t-shirt on Saturday morning, saying she can't wait for the game to start (University of Florida vs. University of Alabama). We discuss the divided loyalties of our respective families - some are loyal to Florida and others to Florida State. On this day, Florida lost to Alabama. Too bad, Gators! :)

I'll be posting Monday, Wednesday, Friday this week.

It always worries me to see an animal in the back of an open pickup truck.

Fresh flowers on the tables in the nursing home is a class act and should be applauded.

Not a sports fan. I know nothing.

So just what do you suggest we do to get through Tuesday and Thursday???

Granny Annie -

That is such a casual area that I am sure he was alright. He looked trained to stay put. Plus - I don't think anyone would bother him. Sharp looking teeth!

You never know - I might pop in and post after all. :) This is just something I'm trying.

Hi Lynn~ hope that you had a great weekend. We had no measurable snow flurries but they sure made allot out of it!

I 'hate' seeing dogs in the back of a pick-up (also.) I live around 'rednecks' who...have their dogs in crates with bars (a little safer, though) and sometimes a big black bear draped over the metal box in the back.

Love the photo of the dog, waiting patiently.

And...it was a GREAT weekend for Wisconsin sports!!!

My dad once had a Dodge pick-up just like that! And I glimpse another across the street, a black one. Dodge country! I think the farmers came to town for seed and to glimpse the pretty ladies snapping photos? :)

I like that neat detail over top of the window frames on that gorgeous store across the street.

Like Granne Annie, someday-hopefully-to-be-Grannie-Jannie, is not much of a sports fan either. And the most I know of football is from watching that Sandra Bullock movie where she adopts that nice young (big) boy.

Lovely post. The green sunfilled leaves are so pretty too. Good eye, my friend!

Now... I want to go pick posies and put them in the currently empty vase beside me.

xoxo

Nothing better than a dog that waits faithfully... mine has to be inside the cab, however :)

My dog would have run away. Such a good dog to stay put.

Love flowers.

Not so much on the college football. :)

Now that's a sight you'd never see in the UK! You do occasionally see a dog chained up outside a shop, but even that's rare.

I like the idea of the fresh flowers too!

Lynn,

Well that looks familiar. I hope you had a good visit. Too bad about those gators...they ran into the WALL the Seminoles hit.

It's funny until I read Granny Annie's remark, I didn't notice the dog. It's not right, but it is very common down here to see dogs in the truck beds.

It was nice weekend to visit. We had such beautiful weather:~)

I didn't hear about the flurries, but glad you escaped. :)

Black bear???

Lance -

I'm glad it was good for sports - I'll bet there's some crisp weather up there.

Jannie -

I'm thinking he was in the outdoor shop I was standing in front of. You are sweet to compliment. :) Yes - lots of pickup trucks around there.

Thomasville has a bustling downtown and I love that they have kept the old buildings with that detail.

Did you get your flowers???

Jeff -

Yes - inside is probably better. I wouldn't have gotten any closer to this dog than I was. :)

happygirl -

I kind of like college football, especially the tailgate parties.

Joe -

I imagine that's true. :)

And I think the fresh flowers are such a nice touch there.

Sara -

I had just come out of Dragonfly and was walking back to my car. Love that shop.

Yes - poor Gators. :) And the weather was glorious.

FB -

I love a dog's smile, too.

What a cute and obedient pup. Mine would be heading for the hills (and I live in flat Florida!)! lol

I think fresh flowers are wonderful! Occasionally, we'll have fresh ones but now you make me want to buy some tomorrow...and a few for home, too! Thanks for the inspiration. :)

He must have learned the "stay" command well is all I can think.

I love that touch with the flowers. I also like that they have dessert at every meal.

RK -

It's just something I'm trying this week. You and GA are sweet to say that.

N going a great job of guarding the truck! Free Flowers for a BDay visit- with a Rose is perfect! I don't remember tha last time I had a rose on the table here... Still got Petunias.
Folks I know from FL always root for the Hurricanes, n my BIL near Tampa likes the Rays for Baseball- He's having a good play-off week. His wife, my sis, was depressed about the Red Sox losing tho! Hard to ditch the Old Home Team!

Here people have their dogs in the back for a reason (=hunting...) They hunt bear with dogs.

We were sad about the Braves being out of the playoffs, too. But they choked.

I like fall, but it's sad to see the flowers on the wane...

lg -

What in the heck do they do with bears after they have hunted them? I don't see the logic in that.

Mama Zen -

Thank you -

John -

I take the Gamecocks won. :)
