Sunset walk, love and the 'burbs

- Taking a sunset walk at Stone Mountain park on Saturday; a brisk and sunny day.  I peeled myself off the couch and went at the 11th hour (so to speak.)  The sun was setting just as I was five minutes away from my car.

- A man pushes a woman in a wheelchair on the pedestrian part of the street at the park, a feat in itself, since the last stretch is all uphill.

- Stopping by the grocery store after and running into five people I know.  That's why I like living in the suburbs.

I have not resumed my exercise in this new year and am inspired by your "peeling". We have some lovely weather being wasted by my laziness and my arteries are clogging as I remain adhered to the couch. Perhaps I will grab the camera and take a walk down to the lake.

Having pushed Ron in a wheelchair a lot this past year I can only imagine how difficult it must be to push someone in a wheelchair up hill. Yikes! Glad Ron is out of the chair now but walking any distance is still a monster task for him.

Like you, the moments we do manage to steal out of the house usually yield some social interaction from friends and acquaintances. About the time we motivate ourselves to adventure it will probably snow ten inches.

late afternoon is the perfect time for a walk...

Hopefully it was a motorized chair?

Looks like it was a great day for a walk - awesome!!!

And here's to the connections with others...at the grocery store and beyond!

"...I peeled myself off the couch;" that's downright inspirational, Lynn! From your post it sounded like you had a lovely evening!

Granny Annie -

It's easier for me to veg on the couch when it's an overcast or rainy day. I needed some down time and watched dvr'd stuff all day and then suddenly felt inspired for a late afternoon walk.

The woman was clearly this man's mother - she was lovely, with white hair pulled back in chignon. I can't imagine pushing someone in a wheelchair up a hill. I'm glad Ron is free from that chair!

Sage -

That's my usual time during the week to walk - I could do it in the morning on the weekend, but the couch calls. :)

FB -

No - a regular push chair.

Lance -

I agree - here's to that!

I admit to being lazy on Saturday. :) Yes - it turned into a lovely evening.

You know I think the same way - when I see people I know - I know I'm home.

Love Stone Mountain too.

WOW! Five people you know. That's awesome. Such community.

My favorite time to walk is just at and after sunset. Now that I'm "off" sunscreen because I've developed an allergy, I can still maintain this porcelain complexion, yet get a little exercise too. And I bet pushing a wheelchair uphill is great exercise!!

Now, I think I have not read your Friday post yet.....

Welcome to the A to Z Challenge!

I love Georgia, but I've never been to Stone Mountain--always wanted to, but never made it.

Winter makes me lazy! Except when I have to get out and shovel~~and we haven't had much...of that!

Send some sunny brisk weather my way, will you? :) I miss my lunchtime walks!

Sandie -

I'm a small town girl, so I like the small town things like running into people I know.

Jannie -

I wondered why you weren't posting any park photos anymore - that and all that recording. :)

Lee -

Thanks for stopping by - I'm looking forward to the challenge.

I thought so. Good to see you.

Isn't it always good to get home after a walk? Then you don't have to feel guilty for sofa time :)

Lare afternoon is still too hot here. Early morning is lovely, and I should do it. Thanks for being an inspiration.

Yes - the rewards are great!

The Elephant's Child -

It's lovely to be out in nature, especially when the weather cooperates. :)

Good for you getting motovated in fading daylight! That's my usual state working nights.
Caregivers are always in such great shape having the strength to do such things. The Boyts who do the Boston Marathon every year amaze me also- Mr Boyt runs up Heartbreak hill pushing his son Ricky in a chair. Love gives them strength I think.
The market can be social hour for me too- but recently has seemed deserted.

Sounds like a fabulous day! Good walks are the best. I love getting out there into the sun.

I liked the late afternoon walk. That's my kind of walk. I'm definitely NOT a morning person:~)

I imagine you get pretty fit if you push a wheelchair up hill frequently. It reminds me of the people I'd see in Switzerland. Old ladies walked faster than I up and down the hilly sidewalks. They put me in their dust:~)

It is nice to run into people at the grocery store, as long you don't have ice cream in your cart:~)

I love that story about the Boyts! That's love.

Thanks for stopping by! I enjoy my walks.

I always seem to have wine in my Carr. Same thing I guess. :)

We love our afternoon walks too. I think suburbs, neighborhoods are very comforting for their familiarity and for reminding us of the simplicity that life can be if we let it.

I think it's time for me to get new glasses. I first read this as "peeing yourself on the couch."

Uh oh! I got the name wrong! it's "Hoyt" not Boyt! Sorry-
I should never try to remember names after work- too tired1

They're getting ready for their 30th Boston Marathon together!

Very cool that they do that. Thx for clarifying!

Getting up and out of the house for a winter walk is always a challenge. Fortunately I have a standing breakfast date with a friend every other Saturday morning. I'm "forced" to get up and be out of the house walking to the train station by around 9 am. I'm always so grateful for this kickstart to my weekend. Last weekend I even went out for a morning walk on my own, just because it was sunny!

SR -

I'm so glad you feel better and can do that.
