The amazing race, comic relief and her slippers

- Niece Rebecca dubbed it "The Amazing Race."  Four carloads of family members journeyed to my sister's farm in northern Florida for the weekend for family time.  Somehow my car got there last, but I think that means my passenger, niece Abby, and I enjoyed the scenery a little more.

- Pete, safely out of reach and basking in the sun, after a lively two-year-old ran after him all morning, calling, "Pete!  Peeete!  Where's Pete???"  The two-year-old also had her first trip to McDonald's last week, and when her breakfast was placed before her, with great excitement she shrieked, "PANCAKES!!!"

- When we were packing up mom's clothes on Saturday, I retrieved these slippers from the box going to charity.  We wore the same size shoe.  (Am I really posting a picture of my feet and pajama pants???)  The kitchen floor was cold this morning and I dug them out of a box.  I think she would have liked that I kept her slippers.

Definitely you arrived last because you were appreciating the scenery :)

Pete is a smart cat - two year olds can be too loving to felines.

I think your Mom would love to know you're keeping warm with her slippers. There is nothing comfier than pj pants :)

Lovely to have you back, Lynn.

Jannie -

The have little snowflakes and skiers on them. :) My favorite purple pajama pants need washing.

I guess I'm a true grownup now - I have actual slippers. I usually go barefoot, or wear socks or flip flops.

xoxo

Talon -

We weren't any any hurry. And yes - too loving is a good word for it.

Thank you - it's good to be back. I missed everyone.

happygirl -

I think I remember that now. Those slippers fit like a glove! (((hugs back)))

Welcome back. You have been missed. Be kind to yourself at the moment, you will probably have fragile feelings on and off for a while.
Sending hugs and many good wishes.

I looked for you first thing this morning and thought, "Well she just isn't ready to come back yet." But I was wrong and here you are sharing the good things that happened despite the sadness. I wish I had my mama's slippers. I do have the afghan that she wrapped around her often and it just so happens I had made it for her. It touches my heart when I wrap myself in it.

Whenever Mr. RK makes pancakes, I do the same thing ;)

I hope you are hanging in there. It is nice to have something that someone you loved wore. I have a necklace from my great aunt that I adore because she wore it.

The Elephant's Child -

Thank you - I am feeling a bit fragile and in fact, backed out of attending a meeting last night for that reason. I am back at work this week though.

It's nice to have been missed.

G -

That's what I thought.

Granny Annie -

I tried to get my post together in the early morning, but couldn't get organized about it. So I posted it later in the morning.

That afghan is a treasure, especially because you made it and when you wrap it around yourself it probably feels like her loving arms.

FB -

She is delightful and loves her food. :)

Riot Kitty -

I know - she's a girl after my own heart, too.

I was especially pleased that I got to bring home my grandmother's Christmas tree pin. Mom used to wear it at Christmas and I had wondered what happened to it. We came across it in her things over the weekend.

Yes, I think your mom would LOVE that you kept her slippers:~)

I laughed about Pete. Yes, cats aren't usually fond of toddlers. They have too many things children love to pull...like a tail!

I always prefer the slow drive with scenery to the fast interstate kind of drive...you might get there last, but you probably had a lot more fun on the trip.

Like others said, it is good to have you back:~)

The tree is beautiful. At least your family gets along so well, n had time to be together instead of rushing back home.
We always get good "Door-glass Pete" pics! All cats learn to hide from 2 year-olds. N now she'll be hooked on McD's forever...
My Mom didn't want her things wasted either. I have some socks, tableclothes n towels, plus other trinkets from her. N my Dad's, n Gramps, n Nanny too- They are only things, but the warmth n comforting thoughts they bring are priceless!

Of course your positive presence has been greatly missed here- but Definately take your time getting back to full gear.

Thank you - I had a nice Valentines Day. There was a red velvet cupcake and some Lindor Truffles. All I could ask for. I hope your day was good, too. xo

Betty -

Thank you. I'm doing OK. And those slippers are making a regular appearance on my feet. :)

Sara -

Thank you. And the scenery down there is so lovely - we enjoyed our chatty drive.

It turned out that I took the long way - the Georgia Florida Parkway and everyone else went farther down I-75 and went through Tifton. Maybe next time.

Pete is forbidden to climb in the house, but does it anyway. I followed him across the bookcase, over the mantel and onto another bookcase before he jumped down, saying, "She's going to be so mad - you need to get down!" My brother-in-law said, "I don't think you won that." :)

Sandie -

Thank you - I could feel the prayers.

Snaggle -

I have missed you all, too. It's lovely having little family treasures. I don't know where it's all going, but I'll find someplace.

Well, I guess slippers don't exactly make everything better, but it is entirely fitting that you would keep them, Lynn. :-)
