The Closet, the right one and praise greeting

- Setting a goal for this past Saturday to have my home all tidy again and clean before the end of the day.  And making the goal; it is lovely to have a clean and tidy place.  But the closet in my home office has become a dumping ground and is a project for another time.  It does remind me a bit of Fibber McGee's closet in the film above.  :)

- Attending a cookie reception and finding a wonderland of cookies.  I circle the table while chatting until I spot the one I want - shortbread with fondant icing.  Yum.  (And another goes in a napkin to have later.)

- The director of Christian Education at my church always does the children's sermon and this week she talks about an African praise greeting that originated from Nigeria.  She tells the children of her neighborhood in Atlanta that has many people from other cultures who walk everywhere they go because they have no car.  She recounts a recent experience in which she asks a passing neighbor, "How are you?"  The response, "God is good, all the time."  She responds, "All the time, God is good."

I'm sure your closet is just fine, compared to that.

Wonderful Nigerian greeting. Maybe that will catch on over here.

I ate cookies yesterday, so hard to not to when they're sitting out on the cookie sheet on the counter. I wonder who invented cookies?

I dream of cleaning closets. The weekends don't give me enough time to tackle such a large project. Love the Fibber McGee closet thing. I think it used to be a radio bit. :)

Travis -

I just need to double the size of the place I live in or get rid of some stuff. :)

Tolga -

Thank you for stopping by. :)

Jannie -

No - that one closet is really like that. I had a deadline on Saturday and finally ended up pitching some things in and leaning on the door to make it close. I heard a landslide in there just after and know that when I open it next, it's going to throw things at me like Fibber's closet. :)

I think that greeting already has a little.

And I don't know who invented cookies, but I love whoever is was.

My dad decided to fix something in my place once while mom and I were at the ballet. So he went in search of tools and opened that same closet. He mentioned that to me when I got back - "it's like Fibber McGee's closet!" :)

Gina -

Thank you for stopping by - I like your blog, too.

I want cookies now!

My studio is a tip too. Especially at the moment because I'm selling loads of things on ebay and they are filling every available chair and space.

I'm on a diet. It sucks.

I have a hall closet just like that!

I love that last saying - we use that in our Walk To Emmaus! sandie

Many, many of the cupboards in our house are shamefully full, and reluctant to close. Congratulations on your cleaning epic.

Riot Kitty -

A perfectly chosen cookie is one of the wonders of life.

Joe -

It will be nice then when some of that sells, I guess. My office is still a little over full of furniture, but at least it's tidy now.

I'm glad to know I'm in good company. :)

Sandie -

I love it, too. I'm not familiar with that Walk.

The Elephant's Child -

I'm in good company then! I have three closets that need emptying and reput back in (leaving some stuff out for the charity box), but there's not much time for that. The home office closet is the worst.

I don't remember watching Fibber McGee and Molly but my parent's sure compared lives with them a lot.

Just how many cookies did you really hide in a napkin for later?

Children's sermons are usually the best:)

Granny Annie -

Mom and Dad loved Fibber McGee and Molly - I was delighted to find that clip on YouTube.

Two small cookies - I had them later.

And she does the best small sermons - I always appreciate the message from it.

One of my FAV sayings of all time!

Hugs sweet friend, and remind to wait until I stand in front of any doors you open! LOL at the vid!

I laughed at the video. That's the way some of my closets are. I make a point to NOT open them:~)

On the other hand, I do clean out my house. I have tons of stuff left by the kids. I need to box it up and actually MAKE them go through it.

The Nigerian greeting is wonderful. Such a gentle thought. I like it.

Don't make me think about cookies. I've had a craving for some. This might sound terrible, but I love the slice and bake kind. I like to slightly overcook them so they're crisp and hot. Perfect with a large glass of cold milk.

Okay, now I'm hungry:~) Have a good week, Lynn.

Good for you to accomplish it!
I'm happy just to catch-up on laundry n get the sink clear- then dusting. I tend to save major furniture moving for real floor- wall cleaning, box sifting, n clutter sorting for warmer times n longer daylight hours. (too dark when I'm awake). a Free week helps too-
Only 2 cookies? I'd never be able to decide! Nifty greeting- n so true!

Yes - that was a good feeling to get that done. It's felt good all week. True about a "big clean" - I need to paint and have the carpet cleaned. Sigh. Painting - I am exhausted just thinking about that.
