Room with a view, heroes and big family

- This is the view from my mother's hospital room in Thomasville, Georgia.  There is a lovely little courtyard shaded by that Live Oak tree.  I stand and look out at this serene view and have never seen one person down there.  Looks like a good place to read to me.

- The young man who transports patients to physical therapy was a local football hero and knows that the high school in my suburb of Atlanta, Tucker, Georgia, won the state high school championship in 2008 and 2011. His team played them. I tell him I remember the banner going across main street last year.  He smiles as if he loved that time in his life.

- I love people's stories.  A student nurse is pregnant.  I ask if this is her first.  No, her sixth!   She'll have three boys and three girls with this one and then will be done.  She's one of seventeen children herself and always wanted a big family.

Mom is back home at the assisted living facility, as of Thursday afternoon.  I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I wonder if the courtyard is tough to get to, n of course you might need permission n a nurse to go out there! Pretty spot tho-
High school can be a blast when your Foorball team does well! Cool to find that in common with him-
What an ambitious Student! A good career to have also-
I had a friend with 9 siblings, n it was a tough- strict household to visit. Fun in other ways tho.

Glad your Mother got back home ok!

You must spread goodness wherever you go--the high school football player, the nurse, your mother... Nice post and glad your mom is back at her home.

Stop by and say hi.

So glad your mom is back home.

That does look like a nice place to read, for a break maybe.

WOW -- 6 children these days is a HUGE family. Good for her! Sounds like that household would never hold a dull moment. :)

My mom's room in her assisted living facility had a lovely view of a garden spot only it was usually filled with the staff taking their breaks and smoking cigarettes. Mother couldn't open her window because the smoke would drift in. That has all changed now and I don't know where people go to smoke but they have hidden them well. That is actually the place I had my last cigarette on 11-6-03 when I had my heart attack visiting my mom. Smoking is a very bad thing.

The young man had to appreciate being remembered. You are a very nice person.

Can you imagine people raising six children? All of a sudden it seems that everyone is have lots of kids. It was a challenge for me to raise two.

Wow! That is a surprise about the student nurse! It is soooooo expensive to raise a family today! I admire her sheer nerve!!!!! Glad to see that your Mother is back at the assisted living facility! My father-in-law is DONE with 30 consecutive radiation treatment to skin cancer. What a 'collective' sigh of relief!

Lynn~ I wanted to share a 'new family member' announcement with you (and I'm sure that I will have some pics forthcoming.) My daughter is getting a bearded dragon this next week. I have been busy 'setting up' for him! He is being over-nighted here by Fed-ex
:-) They are great pets!!! This will make our zoo COMPLETE!! (4 sure-4 sure!!)

Such good news to hear that your Mom is back home.

That courtyard does look very appealing, I agree.

6 children!! How does she cope! I have a friend who has 8 and I often think the same thing.

Have a wonderful weekend Lynn!

I'm so pleased your mom is back at the assisted living facility and out the hospital.

I liked both stories about the football player and the student nurse. It sounds like people find it easy to talk to you. That's a nice gift to have, Lynn.

I loved these lines, "I tell him I remember the banner going across main street last year. He smiles as if he loved that time in his life."

It's also nice that you share your stories about the people you encounter here.

Have a good weekend:~)

The spot under the live oak looks so serene. I'm drawn to it, as well. I love your ability to connect with the caretakers at the hospital. That is not my strong suite in any way. I am praying for your mom.

I think that we can all use a little serenity like that courtyard pic every now and then.

Glad to hear that your mom is back on her feet again.

Whew! I think I have caught up on blog posts. Thank you for all your good wishes - I got home last evening. It was good to sleep in my own bed.

Snaggle -

No - the courtyard appeared to be beside an out patient surgery entrance.

Mom was glad to be home. I finally broke her out of there at 9pm Thursday night.

Sage -

Thank you for saying that. Everyone has a story and I love hearing them.

Susan -

Where have you been??? I'll visit your blog. Sorry to hear about your mom. (Hugs)

Jannie -

Or a good place to just sit and think.

xo

Granny Annie -

It's easy to be nice with so many nice people around me. People are especially nice in south Georgia - I marvel at that every time I'm there.

I am so glad you are not smoking and that you recovered from your heart attack. A wake up call for sure, huh?

Thank you and I'm so glad to hear that your father in law is done with the treatments. Bless his heart.

I don't know what a bearded dragon is, so I look forward to seeing that blog post!

Mama Zen -

Thanks MZ!

Joe -

She has that many children and still goes to school to become a nurse. I was amazed. And she had a true gift for nursing - I could already tell.

RK -

Thank you - I slept for 8 hours without waking once. And I had a lovely birthday. :)

Talon -

It was good to spend that much time with her. Hope you are feeling better.

Sara -

Thank you. Posting that was a challenge in that tiny hospital room, but there was plenty of material with the nice people coming in and out.

You should have seen that young man's eyes sparkle when he talked about his football days. Not so long ago either.

FB -

Thank you!

The Elephant's Child -

A gift indeed. I absolutely feel that way.

happygirl -

We got lots of special attention in the hospital - we both love people.

Thank you for your prayers!
