Fishing, Favorite Flower photo and Friday Eve

- This well loved truck with its bumper sticker "FISH TREMBLE at the sound of my name" immediately made me think of my late father and how much he loved to fish.   Most favorite memory:  he and I went to Lake Sinclair near my hometown of Milledgeville, Georgia early one Saturday morning to quietly fish and contemplate.  It was lovely sitting on the side of the lake waiting for fish that never came.  So dad was packing up the car when my pole (that I had laid down on the bank with the hook still in the water) began drifting away into the lake.  I excitedly yelled for dad to come back and he retrieved my pole for me.  I had caught a lovely fish with no effort on my part whatsoever.  Dad cleaned it and cooked it on the grill for our dinner that night.  A lovely memory.

- Most favorite flower photo ever - taken last August along the banks of the Hiawassee River in the mountains of western North Carolina.  I call it "Two Ants" - click on the photo to enlarge it and see if you can spot them.

- The man who draws my blood on Thursday morning knows that I don't like being stuck with needles and so keeps up happy chatter about the weekend to take my mind off of it.  We talk about what we are going to cook at our respective homes.  It's over before I know it and he wishes me a good weekend and a happy Friday Eve.

Wow - it's already Day 6 of the Blogging from A to Z Challenge.  Today features the letter F.  Three things that gave me pleasure (except for that whole getting stuck with a needle thing...)  :)

Happy Full Moon Friday, y'all!  So good that the day of the week and the moon cooperated with the A to Z Blogging Challenge.

A truly wonderful memory. My father was a fisherman too.
I loved your flower photo but the ants escaped me.
I hope your needler sticker is gentle. Never fun.

What an amazing fishing tale, Catching one hands-free! Great n special memory. Very cool pic- A good needle person is so tough to find! I've had some pretty lousy ones. Distraction makes all the difference I think-
n Have a good, Good Friday!

I love how you caught your fish! But I'm still searching for the ants!

We seem to spend more time planning to fish than actually fishing. My dad was never a fisherman but I treasure lots of memories of special times spent with him.

Our Iris are already in bloom and are lovely too.

No longer "Friday Eve" it' actually Friday. Whoohoo!

You are doing great on your A-Z challenge.

Lisa -

Thank you and I'll be over to visit you shortly.

The Elephant's Child -

I have this photo as my screen background on my computer at work - perhaps the ants are easier to spot when it's that large.

I practically didn't feel it at all. A very nice man.

Cloudia -

You're welcome and thanks for coming by.

Snaggle -

That was a special memory. There were some men quietly fishing on a boat out in the lake and they got quite a kick out of my excitement. I'm sure I scared all the other fish away. :)

Paula -

The ants are on the branches of the flower toward the middle and left.

Granny Annie -

For me it was always about hanging out with dad more than the actual fishing. My ex-husband's family had a farm with a pond and we used to go there sometimes, too. Dad mused once that it would be fun to sleep out under the stars sometime out there while fishing. I'm sorry we never did that.

Shortly after the story I wrote about today, dad had a stoke that he actually recovered from, but he didn't fish with quite as much enthusiam after that. I think he was reluctant to go out by himself as he often had before. Fishing after that was mostly with my brother in law at the pond near their farm.

For a future doctor, I'm actually pretty queasy around needles...so I totally get it. That flower is so pretty!

I've only been fishing twice. Once in some lake, and another on the Rio Negra for piranha. The second time was much more fun.

That's a cool story about the fish. My dad and I used to visit a river nearby my home. He keep me busy with a fishing pole, but no bait. One time I caught a catfish and he was so annoyed because they are HARD to get off the hook:~) Thanks for helping me remember this memory.

You stumped about the two ants. It driving me crazy. I can't find them, but the flowers are beautiful.

Have a great weekend, Lynn:~)

I'm just glad I took the time to be with him like that. I wish I could have him back for just five minutes. You have a happy Easter, too.

Joanne -

Thank you - happy cooking!

McKenzie -

Piranha! Oh my - aren't they those fish that will eat you alive in two bites???

lg -

You, too, lg!

Sara -

Dad always said I wasn't a true fisherwoman since I wouldn't bait a hook or touch the fish. :) I guess he had a point. My job there was mostly to must be delightful. :)

I have never been fishing. It sounds like a really nice father-daughter memory.

A very nice memory of your Dad and you. I loved the flower photo, couldn't find the ants, but I haven't given up yet.
The man that gives your needle sounds like a wonderful person. Not all "needle people" are so considerate.
Very nice post. :)
